Engine idles high some times
So like the title says my car will idle high but normally only happens when I fill the car up at a shell gas station with 92 but other times it will do it if I get on it hard with 2nd and 3rd but normally doesn't happen too often but the car is a 93 touring wagon with 16g turbo air water intercooler 3 inch down pipe and a 5 speed swap
I'm just wondering if anyone has had this issue before and could shed a little light on where to start looking for issue
Thanks, cody

Re: Engine idles high some times
I would clean iacv that fixes mine.

Re: Engine idles high some times
Okay where would the iacv be located which side of the manifold and what would be the best why to clean it
Re: Engine idles high some times
Did you do the 5spd swap or was it done by a previous owner?
The IAC valve is on the passenger side of the intake manifold and has a 3/4" hose coming off of it into the resonator box.

Re: Engine idles high some times
5speed was done before me and okay thanks and would you just recommend replacing it instead of cleaning it I was reading up in some of it and some people will just replace them instead of cleaning them
Re: Engine idles high some times
Replacements are around 200-400 I would just clean it, it's a lot cheaper. I clean mine yearly that's about 50-70k usually every fall.

Re: Engine idles high some times
- Off-topic, probably, but are you running any EM - piggyback, Revtronix chip, EJ20G w/Rob Tune, etc? If not, be careful w/the TD05 if you're still running the stock injectors, etc.
Read up on here about using this turbo, as it can max out the stock setup and could cause issue$.

Re: Engine idles high some times
There is no tune yet and the boost hasn't been increased and what should I use to clean it with
Re: Engine idles high some times
Also could be a o2 sensor?
Re: Engine idles high some times
There's a Thread on here about cleaning the IAC, - use brake cleaner - not WD40-type stuff.
Probably not the 02 as it doesn't do as much on our OBD1 cars as the '95+ OBD2 cars that have 2 of them, but if it's original, I'd replace it as it can help your MPG.
