old school question.
I'm not new to soobs, but don't know a few things still. I have a 91 LS sedan that I drive the kids to school with to save miles on my Jeep. What can I use to upgrade the stock rear sway bar? Any direct bolt ons?
Here's the car, as seen with our XV.

Re: old school question.
Did yours already have a bar on it??? I installed a legacy turbo bar in my 93 L.
Re: old school question.
It does have a sway bar. The vin# says it's an SS, but no Turbo. . . I wonder if the actual SS bar is thicker? hmm . . .

Re: old school question.
Hmmm. That's really weird! Mine isn't super thick but it really improves the handling.
Re: old school question.
So your VIN says it's a SS, but it's not a turbo??
That's strange.
The turbo legacies (SS) had a 18 mm rear anti-sway bar, which was the largest stock bar for the first gen legacies.
What year is your legacy?

Re: old school question.
It's a 91. Correction. . . The title claims "SS", I did not read the vin, nor do I know how to translate it.

Re: old school question.
All ss's are turbo. You need a whiteline rear 20mm swaybar or a stock rear 18mm ss swaybar if your car is not an ss. whiteline is about 175 shipped if you shop around. Don't order from whiteline or the shipping will cost as much as the bar.

Re: old school question.
Here's a real 91 SS VIN plate:
Note the engine type. (Car was at pick n pull and happened to be my old 91's twin).
Anyhoo, if you have an SS, you already have the largest stock swaybar that'll fit and is easily available. If you have a non-SS, then a 18mm 96-99 Outback RSB would work. However, if you wanted to hammer out the spare tire "hump" then you could fit an RSB from an impreza (WRX, STI?).

Re: old school question.
Yeah, I have a totally different vin#. Starts with 4S4. I think the SS is a typo only. Will look for a wrecked SS, but ain't holding my breath.
Thanks guys.

Re: old school question.
Your vin implies the car was made in America, not that it matters to parts interchange but still a neat fact.
You'll probably have much better luck finding a 96-99 outback rear sway bar, they're still completely interchangeable with the 1st gen and same 18mm size.
