Before I begin my explanation of my build I would like to first explain what began my love of first gen legacy's. This was the purchase of my first one from Mark aka sqc151 which was a 1994 Legacy Lsi wagon which originally looked like this;

Very Shortly after I decided to slam the crap out of the poor thing and put gold 17 rotas on it but i soon learned my lesson when three of the four coil overs blew out.

Then I proceeded to blow then head gaskets...3 months after buying it.

I'm sure you get the point by now...While doing work on my wagon I soon learned about the little known but very loved Legacy Sport Sedan. Naturally began my search for one. This lead me of course to browsing criegslist looking for anything in an arms reach. This brought me to Greeneville, Tennesse a mere 10 hours away

So in my excitement I rented a uhaul and traveled those ten hours in hopes that what I saw in the ad was true, of course this was quite the leap but hell it was up for 1500 with 144,000 miles on it and they even posted the vin! Off I went to see this future to be my car and of course fell in love, this car literally has no rust whats so ever. The engine was almost clean enough to eat off of! Minus the need of valve cover gaskets. The only down side was the fifth gear was blown on the trans, but hell if that's it then not bad. Well I of course bought it and brought it back home.

Both cars look nice!
Do you still have the wagon?

The wagon looks hot lowered with the golds.

That wagon makes me need to drop mine.

Yup still got the wagon! I miss it lowered looked so good but it was really hard on the car. It's now running on 2004 sti struts.

A few weeks after having the car i noticed the engine was moving a lot with rough idle this began my long list of figuring what was wrong, firs was the Crank pulley and oh my was that bad

After replacing the crank pulley I thought all my rough idle troubles would be solved but boy was i wrong...Car idled erratically and vacuum was all over the place so I figured might as well replace all the PCV.

The hoses I may say were as hard as a rock and it took about two days to replace every single one.
After I was finished I was extremely excited to start the car and finally get to driving running good! (Mind you this was the day before OC AWD and WBM so I was dying to bring it) Unfortunately the PCV fix did nothing to solve my issues and my CEL prevailed.

After that I began to chase the codes that were given to me which were
14 (injector 1)
15 (injector 2)
16 (injector 3)
17 (injector 4)
35 (Purge solenoid valve)
49 (Mass air flow)

So I replaced the MAF

Also replaced the
Fuel filter
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Fuel Pump (WRX)
One injector just to test if they really are bad
Wires
Spark Plugs
As you can tell i got to the point of throwing money at it...

After all this there was no change the car still didn't run right, at this point I had owned the car for 3 months and only drove it less than 1,000 miles. I was beyond frustrated and decided to get the car smoke tested as i noticed cylinder 1's spark plug was showing up lean. What I discovered was a complete surprise but a crack on runner one of my intake manifold!

Next priority after the engine troubles was the blown transmission which came from a donor rusted exact same model Legacy sport!
The trans is a 1996 STi RA trans and man this thing has short gears!

Yeah I couldn't believe it either I was told I possibly "over" torqued it but that's impossible since i used a beam torquing wrench and tightened it on the low end of the range.

What are your impressions of that tranny? Also whats it's tranny code? Keep up the good work, your car has come so far and looks great!

Thanks I'm really happy with the progress so far! The trans code is 6B-TY752VB3EA and I love it, it keeps me in the power band but naturally my gas suffers but once I upgrade the turbo it will definitely boogie.
