One thing to note is that if you use a 90 degree silicone on the inlet side of the turbo make sure it's beefy and/or rated for vacuum. Others have reported the silicone 90's collapsing under hard acceleration when the turbo is drawing in a lot of air.

Ordered another silicone 90* and ten feet of 3.5mm vacuum hose. Thanks to everyone who explained to me ten times that I also need a section of pipe to go between things!

Hahahahaha, I honestly haven't been there since 2000, but I imagine its the same.
Its all good. I have all the information, now I just need to make it happen. I did get some 3.5mm vacuum hose today though, so thats a good start.

I should've gotten black.

Alright, went to the garage today for a couple minutes and I put the new silicone 90 on the turbo. The intake manifold smooshes the 90 a bit, I envision that will be a problem, yes?

see if you can trim more off of the turbo side of the elbow. to make it more extreme of an angle if that makes sense.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
I had the same problem with some plumbing hose that I used for my 90 degree elbow. I just bought a 90 degree silicon hose that’s made for turbos online line for like $5. You have to shave it really close to make it fit perfect.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Ok, I trimmed one of the legs about as far as I could It definitely helped a bit, but the intake manifold still crushes it maybe 15%. If I rotate the 90 clockwise a little it helps, but it of course turns the 90 the wrong direction. I used a piece of PVC to test fit.

Thoughts on all of this?

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
looks pretty tall and looking from the front it looks to be "leaning back" a bit. how is the hood clearance? the hard plastic will make it easy to weld in your ports.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
The hood won’t close because I used a turbo radiator, so I’m not too worried about the hood clearance quite yet. I should probably just take the turbo to a friend and have them weld a 90 on. Shouldn’t I?*
Edit * - Are all cast elbows the same for the most part? This one is a super tight radius 2.5"

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
i think you should be good with that cast elbow, if you are going to find someone to weld cast aluminum you might as well have them put on a little extension just to make sure you have enough material to clamp to.
if i was in your position, id go this route. i dont know if that should make you feel better hahaha

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
if you wanted to stick with the silicone 90, id say you could cut a bit off the vertical portion to suck the hard 90 down to more tolerable levels.
im leaving that statement open for all to tear apart hahaha

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Well, my lovely internet friends, I made a quick decision for once and pulled my ej20 and dropped in a running ej22. My friend Skylar came down from dirty Jersey and we pulled the 20 out and dropped in the 22 in a couple of hours. Got everything bolted down and plugged in. The car didn’t crank for some reason, but the accessory power worked and all of the exterior lights and dash lights worked, for the first time in many years!

I’m not entirely sure why it’s not cranking but it was pretty late by that time so I put everything away for the night. I know that all of the grounds are not connected. Another issue I have is the exhaust manifold doesn’t fit because I have a turbo crossmember, any suggestions to work around that?
Those AUSDM tail are fire.

Do you mind refreshing us on what all that's been done....sorry I know should review the previous posts, but have limited time.
What ECU are you running? Was the car original auto or 5spd and what is in it now? Have you tried a manual start button to see if you can bypass the ignition key and get the starter cranking?
I know it may be a silly question, but is the battery fully charged and good?

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
The car was originally automatic and is now five speed. I am running the stock ecu still. I pulled the week old battery out of my truck, so it is pretty good to go.
I have not bypassed the ignition to try starter yet.
