I still have to re-plumb the BOV and do some deburring inside the pipes..

I'll be doing up a project page for this with full details, but this is a taste for now.

You going to create a scoop diverter so no the air either goes to the chimney or the intercooler and not in the middle?

good plan, i could cut the old one. do you think there would be any issues with having air vented to both the chiminey AND the IC ?

would there be any recirculation of hot air ?

That's how stock 93-96 WRXes had it.

It'd be weird for hot air to come up the chimney and then back down onto the intercooler.

Think about this though, what if air travels OUT of the "scoop" while your driving, venturi style. Ive always felt it to be possible.

I know it's not much of a scoop, but it's still a scoop. When you're moving there won't be laminar flow over the scoop and up onto the windshield, I don't think... I'm no fluids engineer though.

But when you're stopped, yeah, hot air is meant to travel out of the scoop...

465000km's and going strongish..

tranny is being a bit of a dick, needs adjusted, a rim is bent etc etc...

it get's less miles on it now that we have the Matrix[2003] for the daily driver.

honestly folks, i don't notice a huge difference. but i think i have a small air leak somewhere, i gotta put a boost guage on it to know for sure.

there's no black smoke coming out back any more [i had some loose hose clamps a few days ago

] so that's a good sign.

I thing you have enough snow driving with your wagon this year , right? (^V^)
The intercooler looks very good and all you have to do next is push up the boost and enjoy the feeling!

yeah we got "enuf" snow all right. we actually got so much that the subaru was burried for 4 days in a parking lot, had to put on new plug wires before it would start again. but the brand new artic alpins sure made some of the back roads alot of fun.

the hallman MBC is on my short list now

Just out of curiousity, what fittings are those that you used to attach the IC with? Where did you get them and how much?

Everything in this project is gheto style.

The hose is from a trucking supply store. Radiator hose. I ct 3 concentric rings to size up between the IC and TB

And from turbo to pipe to ic, i just used a smaller peice of the same hose.

The pipe between the turbo and ic is aluminized exhaust pipe and i went to the hardware store and got a piece of galvanized pipe, then got a friend to weld them together.

The BOV 90deg curve is a piece of the stock hose that i cut, then boiled until it was soft and fit it over the bung. The other piece of hose is 3/4 inch heater hose.

Like i said, it's all ghetto, but it all works and the install looks pretty clean. I do have to take a hammer and smash my firewall in a bit tho.

As well, be prepared to move your ignitor, and do a slight modification to the cruise control mounting bracket to get it out of the way.

Haha, I found out about the cruise control mounting bracket thing the hard way. A BFH got it taken care of though.
