auto awd to manual fwd

auto awd to manual fwd

would there be much drama in attempting to do this. auto is on the way out, but all the manual boxes around are fwd. or just get the auto fixed?

Not sure what you would do with all rear drivetrain stuff, hubs, axles, rear subframe, etc. They're different on the FWD's & AWD's.

I'd try and find an AWD MT, or just repair the auto.

would have to agree totaly with that josh, especially after having had a look at under the rear of the car last night. just to hard.

Couldn't you just hacksaw the rear axles off near the hubs, and then remove the diff, driveshaft, and the rest of the axles? Or would they flop around too much and destroy the wheel bearings?

You could just leave the rear diff and axles installed. Detach the axle from the diff, everything is held up there pretty good.

The differential's input doesn't need to be protected from the elements?

Switch with fwd rear hubs and struts and sell the AWD parts.

The transmission will leak fluid if the driveshaft is removed, unless you plug it up with something.

Whats the point anyways, maybe we can find an alternate solution to your problem.

The transmission fluid? He'd be putting in an FWD transmission.

the input on the rear diff has a nut int it that is normally covered.. he could bolt a small plate to it w/ the stock bolts, or duct tape even :D

Missed that part. I thought he was wanting to use an AWD transmission as a FWD like the sand rail guys do.
