Whats the diff between 2wd and 4wd rear struts?

Struts, spring, anti-rollbars, braces and the like.

Whats the diff between 2wd and 4wd rear struts?

Post by toomuch »

Will '91 2wd N/A GR-2's fit my '91 SS??? What is different? They seem to be the same length. I see the mount is in a different place. Will it change my rear alignment?
Thanks!

Thanks Josh, I did search and did find that thread, although interesting, I didn't see where it answered my question but I might have missed it.

I noticed there was a reference to all PN's being superseded by one number.

When I compared the struts I noticed the spacing of the lower mounting bolts was about 1/4 farther from the strut body than the stock ones. I guess I'm just wonderig if these will fit without screwing up my rear alignment. The overall length and spring perches appeared to be the same.

Sorry for the elementary question and for the redundance but I really appreciate any help you can provide.

the fronts are the same but the rears are different.

the rear strut on a FWD legacy mounts in a place that is occupied by the cv axle on a AWD legacy.

Oops....my bad....I think that thread only talks about AWD.

The FWD struts are longer and the perch is different as well.

No worries, appreciate your help.
I guess I really wanted to hear that they would fit my AWD car but it sounds like they are not interchangable.

They'll bolt up, but it'll jack the ass end up. You'll also need the FWD rear springs as the AWD springs won't work. I found that out when I put the rear FWD springs on the donor wagon so it could be rolled away.
