Plastic coolant tank question
Is it ok to remove its cap once the car has cooled down?

Yes. It's just like the radiator cap on a typical car. It's the primary fill point for the whole cooling system.
Keep in mind, though, that repeated removals and reinstallations will eventually wear out the rubber gaskets on the cap. In my experience, aftermarket caps' gaskets wear out a lot faster than OEM ones.

No, the one Thawa posted and Vikash gave the part number for is the equivalent to the black one that always breaks on our cars.

Cliff,
I just replied to your PM. I forgot you were looking for this part. Since the wagon is now a part out, I have one for you. Call me and we'll just add it to the price for your steering rack and you can pick it up this weekend...

I have a WRX intercooler that I'm putting in it so I will be relocating the tank. I'm hoping that I can find a smaller windshield washer resevoir at the u-pull-it junkyard and mount something next to it.irishsetter wrote:Sweet deal just keep in mind if your goal is to go TMIC then you have to relocate the tank.

I moved my battery to the trunk and I'm using a WRX coolant tank. It's a major pain in the ass to fill, but it does it's job OK from what I can tell, lol.

I think the tank is fine where it is for a TMIC, it's the location of the nipples that gets in the way and break off. If you make one with the nipples all coming out the side not the back it would be fine and won't take all the work of relocating it and running hose.
