Seat belt and door buzzers, STOP IT ALREADY, I HEARD YOU!!!

Post by Blackbart »

How can I disconect the buzzers on my 94 TW? I want to be able to play a cd with the door open without getting yelled at by my car. The seat belt buzzer would be nice to get rid of too, I'm a big boy now and I can put it on without being told.

IIRC, the little "speaker" that the buzzing actually comes from is somewhere behind the dash, so I would imagine you could just cut the leads to that thing and you'd have no more buzzing.

Sorry though, I'm not sure where it's located exactly, I'm sure someone else here can help you out

ummm havnt got any pics - but under the steering wheel there is a thing that looks like a relay. It has about 6 wires going to it. Just grab and pull the plug out. (Im yet to discover if there is something else not working so i think that the buzzing is all it does)

Just sit on the ground, keys in and doors open, and it pretty easy to find. Just follow the buzzing.

Have the combination meter (instrument cluster) on my '93 L out for bulb replacement and the ^&%#ing buzzer is soldered to the top of the circuit board. I will find the wire to the buzzer & cut, maybe solder in 2 pieces of wire so it could be reconnected under the dash for whatever reason.

the door chimer has clips similar to the check engine light clips. keep unpluging one at a time to find which one shuts it up.

In case you didn't see, schspeedster posted the solution and I posted a more detailed writeup in this thread:
