5 Month's Later Update : Frames Bent, Still Depressed :smt022

Cracked some ribs snowboarding, Hurt way to much to sand, so the project was put on hold yet again. Built a mini Booth and Tried sandblasting wheels. Way to time consuming, gave up, took them to a U-Blast Place.

I sidetrack easily, projects include :

A Sandblasting Booth :

Powdercoated the Centers Gold, with Gloss Clear. Bolts Olive Drab & Got the Lips Polished and I coated them with Sharkhide protectant :

Had some Insulation left over from the Oven, decided to do the Garage Door :

Then I wanted to get my chairlift Modified and hung. Chopped it, welded it, hung it. Porch Swing :

Did the car come with a bent frame rail, or did I miss where it happened?

Ya still haven't even got it on the road yet, it came with a damaged fender. The door would contact it, you can see it in the very first pictures. Never really thought anything of it then . It appears someone has already tried to straighten it and failed, I might Hilti a hook to the ground and try it myself.

That's an interesting color. I kind of like it in the matte finish.

Thanks Guys, I like the matte, but think it kind of makes it look Ghetto. Nobody realizes that you actually have to pay more $ for a flattening agent :!: I like it on high end cars though.

Only had time for 2 layers of clear cause they were kicking us out of the booth, turned out a little rough, gonna wait three weeks and wetsand, then re-clear :(

Oh well, gotta paint all the trim and powdercoat the set of Prodrive Pero-R's !!!

I hardly have experience LOL, I did the bodywork and sprayed the high build. Masked. My friend actually sprayed the car, it was his 6th full car and we were under pressure with the time. If I sprayed it we would have ran out of time for sure and would look alot worse :-D

I actually purchased my paint through KMS Tools, didn't really try to go straight to the supplier. It was PPG Omni, lower grade paint. I think Deltron is above it. Pretty thin , barely reduced it. It was $206 for the gallon of Base I believe. but with all the materials including sandpaper , filler, etc, I probably spent around $1400, but have quite a bit of leftovers. Only thing we ran out of was the clear cause I had used some to spray the wife's wheels.

Just do some research and shop around. If you want me to do it, it will probably take about 2 years  :!:

-Awesome. You got your car painted in the color I want mine in. Build is great. Nice job on welding in the hood scoop.

Thanks. Love the Colour :!:

I actually did a terrible job welding the hood the first time. Can't Weld them , to thin.

I used a Weldless kit from eastwood. Worked awesome.

I like the wheel dolly you have under each wheel. Work smarter, not harder.

Sorry about the late response, working graveyards and just got back from Jamaica.

I actually overheated and warped the hood by welding it in. Then I tried to fix the warpage/ oil canning by using a method called " heatshrinking " . It didn't work as I ended up chasing the low spot right over the hood line, therefore completely ruining the hood :smt022

I haven't been able to find another GC 2.5 RS hood so I will probably be using a BD Legacy GT scoop instead for round 2 . In the meanwhile I will probably just fill the existing hood and just prime it, so at least I can get the thing painted and on the road.

Like So:

Image

I like the clean flush look, but I don't think the scoop opening is as wide . Im undecided, all I know is that there is a guy in the neighborhood that has a GT Scoop and is cheaper than the $150 that the local wrecker wants for a damaged 2.5 RS Scoop

No Doubt , I'm absolutely appalled !!! What couldn't make a nice comment about my Car !!!! :smt013

Ok , I'm over it :)

But looking at that grill I wish I modded mine and cut the center out. Painted it last night though :!:

I actually got 2 , painted 1 coloured and 1 black. Pretty sure I'm gonna go with black mirrors, grill and trim though. But the cut out center really flows with the cut out in the bumper. With an all black grill though it shouldn't make much difference

-I like how its front mount and was able to keep all the front bumper grill stuff and fog lights for that matter. I lost all that. Great looking car.

Yeah, I wish I could have kept the front bumper cross & vertical slat pieces. I think it would have looked better, but they wouldn't work with the intercooler. I with the end tanks were a little more rounded. It would go with the styling of the car better.

Not yet , the exterior of the car is fully re-assembled. Just getting the interior back together, sway bars and the shifter assembly. Kicking it out of the garage and powdercoating the Speedlines. Then I'm all done !!!........... Hopefully

I'm hoping 2 weeks max, get it on the road . First thing is a photoshoot !!!

So is that trim guard you used black instead of the factory chrome? Did you just paint the door trim pieces since the chrome strip is integrated into the trim piece?

On the shifter setup, are you using the factory Subaru u-joint?
