trust alignment shop with modded suspension?

Post by czo79 »

Howdy...
So on my 97 GT...the previous owner did a fair bit of suspension work. He installed a set of tein pillowball strut top mounts that are adjustable, they are also the rear camber bolts, and its lowered with eibachs and kyb gr2's...I'm about to throw her winter kicks on, nokian hakk 1's and have been thinking I should get the alignment checked too. Anyways, I'm wondering if my every day down the street alignment shop will know what to do with this stuff...and I got to do a search about alignment settings...
Thanks
Micum

you may want to ask some local guys if there are any performance shops that do alignments, or where the performance shops get their alignments done.

I would say they probably know what to do...assuming you don't get some rookie.

Most normal alignment shops wont touch anything except the factory adjustment points. Most also wont set the car for anything but the factory recomended settings even if they touch the aftermarket parts.

The few that will end up charging extra, and they aren't very accurate when getting the settings.

A good performance alignment can be had for 75-125$

will you adjust camber specs to custom if requested by customer?

I had mine set to -1.0 degree of camber all the way around.

i would do what ever the cust wants. alot of shops dont mess with modded susp cause it can become a headache if u cant get the car to track straight.
