Oil Gallery plug sealant?

I'm not sure what was on the oil gallery plugs. It looks like a white material, which is either teflon tape, or more then likely a similar pipe thread sealant.

I used teflon tape. Anyone see any problems with that?

Which plugs are these? The ones on the top of the block? Cuz I thought those were sealed with annealed washers.

yeah, on top of the block, and in front of the block.

They do have an aluminum washer, but there is definitely something on the threads.

I'd probably just trust a new aluminum washer, myself... If I recall correctly those are M18x1.5 threads or something; not pipe threads at all.

I would think that using an anaerobic sealant would work, almost like red threadlocker. I mean, it is recommended when replacing the oil pump so any residual sealant that got into your oil galleries shouldn't hurt anything.

If you can't get new ones, I'd look to get copper washers of the same diameter and just use those. Annealed washers like these don't work so well the second time because they're work hardened from the first time.
