Make predictions on my HP gains. 2nd SC in the mail...

Post by douglas vincent »

I bought a 2nd Eaton M62 off of Ebay. I "should" have it installed by June 20th. I have to move the battery, move/reconfigure ALOT of intercooler piping, and install 440 cc injectors. And then tune it....

I am currently pushing 7ish psi and making about 150-160 whp/170-180 torque.

With the second supercharger I should be 14 psi.

What do you think 7 extra psi will give me? Lets just assume I dont get detonation....

what is the difference between an M62 and other eatons like an M90, and why dont you just go to a bigger charger and drive ratio rather than 2 chargers? there is the cool factor I guess, but the added complexity on both the pulleys and piping just doesnt seem worth it.
are there any vortech type chargers you could use?

Thats why I said assume I don't have detonation :D But I am willing to bet some money that with the SMT6 pulling timing, and the 98 octane I run, I will be safe.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to run a larger supercharger. But the largers superchargers are, well, LARGER. I have roughly measured the M90. really big.

The m112 just wont fit no matter what, its freaking huge.

The centrifical superchargers will fit I think, but I have never handeled one.

so you would consider the M90 to be too big?
in stock form the motors they come from are probably close to what you are hoping for HP wise, right, ie ford T bird supercoupe?
not sure I understand the relationship between how much air the charger is moving(drive ratio?), the size of the engine, and the amount of boost that combo creates.
or are you talking physical size? I was thinking about how I would set up a blower, and I would run it under the mani ala the australian company, but have an AWIC sandwiched between the blower and the mani's plenum. it would be pretty darn tall but you could get some nice long intake runners.

Too big physically.

I would never ever ever have the funds at one time to order a customized sandwich intercooler, therefore never considered it.

I bet it wouldnt cost that much to get a bare core or even cut up an old intercooler into 1" pieces and have them welded between a couple plates then boxed in and some bungs added for the pump.
steel mani could be home made but aluminum TIG is pretty difficult especially on the thin stuff best left to a pro.

anyway, where are you going to put the second charger?

Actually, TIG is not that difficult on thin stuff (I was taught TIG on like 20 ga Aluminium)...and Doug has a good welder friend it looks like, So I'd say go for it :smt064

my understanding is that the m90 doesnt really flow more, but it can flow the same amount with less stress. The m62 can spin faster; those big ole blades dont sprin too fast

Geez,
The pressure's on. I need to get my first blower on my car before Douglas gets his second. My revised goal was June 30, but I think I need to re-revise it to June 20th :-D

sweet!! I've got a line on a cheap m45, maybe I should put it on my xt6?

what kind of mods did you have to do to run the N/A motor with a supercharger?

(or.. is there a thread detailing such info?)
