Post by legacy22t »

Does any one know what the 2006 wrx intercooler is pressure tested to ? Or how much boost you can run on this intercooler?

push it till it pops. most intercoolers will hold up to more than youll be able to give it

i just made arrangements to get the 06WRX intercooler (non Sti version) This will be my virgin attempt at intercooling. might not get to it til next spring. Going on my 92 ss 5spd, which is getting new 04 WRX flywheel and oem clutch. Has STi axleback now, K&N, and boost guage soon to go in as well. After i run it with boost guage to determince accuaracy of the guage, i will install intercooler, then MBC. yeah OH, oem VF11......

The intercooler will be able to hold pressure. Think about it - the metal intercooler can certainly hold a lot more pressure than all those crappy, clamped, rubber and plastic hoses in your engine compartment.

I believe the '06 wrx intercooler has plastic endtanks. But yeah, I'm sure it, and pretty much any other intercooler could handle anything you could dish out.

sweet. But, what are your aspirations boost wise? I mean, I dont think you will be beating the IC so much as beating your turbo :P

Well that l haven't quite figured out yet..for now probably about 15 psi, but l am going to a wrx turbo with about 10000km on it. l am also changing the fuel pump, downpipe, 3 inch exhaust( l am going to try a flowmaster ...want to see what it sounds like), act lightened flywheel , wrx cluch kit, boost guage, manual boost controler, timing belt, and various other parts l can't think about write now..oh yeah since l am going faster , brakes.. performance pads and all around crossed drilled rotors( which l got for 180 bucks shipped to my door..from a place in london ,On. sweet!!)
Anyway..
