emanage ultimate...
Any of you guys look into the eManage ultimate for tuning your NA-T-legs, or even factory t-legs?
It allows for direct control over your injectors via IDC and not ghetto ways such as MAF..
Just curious cause' I see alot of people talking about FMU's and whatnots..this isn't the 1990's anymore..and since all of you legacy guys are probably obd-1, the EMU is almost like a stand alone since it offers timing control too (sort of) along with a countless array of other options..

I think he meant a turbo'd Legacy that came N/A from the factory (and presumably running the N/A ECU with FPRs and whantnot to keep it from blowing up).
What do you mean controlling the injectors via IDC? Is this just a piggy-back fuel/timing controller?

The emanage ultimate is a full fledged stand-alone ECU. I have never heard anything good about the emanage except from people that had Greddy balls deep in their mouth.
I have heard that the emanage ultimate allows more resolution that say a Power FC, but even here in Japan a Power FC is the way to go.

I'm assuming they stopped making the harness for BC/early GC applications, cause the ones on their site don't look like they'll work.

they do make hanress' for jdm ej motors but you can just wire it in as it IS universalkeirnna wrote:What does it require to tune it? A Greddy authorized tuner?BXSS wrote:The E-manage Ultimate does have Alot of nice features.
it requires a laptop and a wideband just like any other piggyback sort of..it has its own software. and i meant for people with NA legacys that want to booost them.

Alot of piggybacks use MAF signal to -/+ fuel but the EMU lets you control them directly (pulse width) so it doesnt effect timing if you add or remove fuel. The Blue eManage allows similar control over the injectors but it does not allow you to subtract fuel directly, only add it. Atleast thats what mine does..James614 wrote:I think he meant a turbo'd Legacy that came N/A from the factory (and presumably running the N/A ECU with FPRs and whantnot to keep it from blowing up).

I am finally looking into emanage....
I have wanted to do a proven 11.99 or better and/or 400 whp dyno chart with the PerfectPower6 but have been thwarted repeatedly, but not by the PP6, but it has most likely been the end death of a few or more high hp motors....

I knew the standard emanage was a piggyback, but I thought the ultimate was a standalone. Learn something every day...Legacy777 wrote:The emanage ultimate is not a stand alone ECU. From the brief reading I've done, it's very close to being a stand alone...seems to have a decent amount of features, but still is a piggy back though.

I Know this thread is a few months old but since I'm new to this forum I feel I should chime in.
I've been using the E-Manage Ultimate on my 98 OBS-T for over a year now and it has been great. Prior to adding the turbo to my car I had very little experience with anything newer than a 77 Jeep. I'm not an idiot, I just never had the inclination to get into modding cars. Then again, I never owned a car worth modifying before either so it was more a matter of circumstance.
ANyways...
The EMU has been great and even a tuning noob like I was had a relatively easy time wiring it up and programming it. The auto-tune function takes almost all of teh guess work out of setting up a base map and its easy to turn it off once you get that base map and fine tune from there. I run about a 14.5:1 AFR cruising and 12:1 AFR at full boost (7.5 psi for my car).
With the new car (91 SS) I've been wondering how I was going to have to approach EM and from what I've read, I'm starting to consider using the EMU for it.
I'm looking to get 400 whp but am very patient and not afraid of research and new ideas. I spend my money wisely so I don't have to be bothered with buying the wrong parts.
I'm not afraid to tackle a full stand alone even if I have to wire the entire thing in myself. I just want to get the most out of my car without breaking my bank or my engine. Also, I was an electronics technician in the Coast Guard and then as a civilian for a total of 7 years in the industry which has greatly aided my ability to play with wires.

Good to know that EMU is working well in your 98 OBS. If you put in your Legacy, do keep us updated.

400whp with a piggyback system like that will be challenging. Granted standalone systems are a good bit more expensive, but their flexibility cannot be matched by any piggyback. There will always be certain issues when trying to trick the stock computer.
If you can do it and maintain good drivability then more power to you.

I'm getting a similar more HP itch with my OBS-T, & was thinking about running a built ej22t shortblock (I have 3 ej22ts in my garage) with a set of phase II 2.2E heads (HUGE PORTS compared to a PI 2.2), USDM WRX intake manifold with TG delete / modded injectors, Garrett GT turbo between a GT2871R-GT32.
I was planning on using a Hydra as they have a plug in version for newer 2.2s, but that would mean going back to stock for inspection (OBDII plug-in inspection in NYS - no inspection = no registration).
If the EMU could do this it would be nice (no need to take the car apart once a year for inspection).
I have to get all the junk I have for the car on it & hit the track with the stock N/A-t motor before I even think of upgrading.
