I may pick up 92 Legacy 2.2L with minor transmission problem

Post by txl146 »

I found a Legacy with 78k miles on for only $500 locally. Has perfect engine and body, but with minor transmission issue.

Everything works but gear won't go into reverse easily at times. Do you think this may turn out to be a major issue later on? Would replacement of transmission oil help this out?

What could potentially cause this kind of issue?

Your input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

Reverse is commonly hard to get into. I often just shift into a forward gear, then try reverse again. Common!

yea my 90 Legacy has had that problem for over 3 years, just gotta find her sweet spot.

Changing the fluid may help very slightly, I'd say i'd mostly be in you head tho.

I'd be careful. My tranny was hella expensive to fix and it needed an upgraded cluth pack because the older version is now obsolete. My car is a 91.
