noise question
when i start to get low on oil because my car burns it pretty quickly. what would cause that. i never have smoke come out. anyway it will start to make this tick tick tick sound. if the rpms raise the tick becomes quicker. i have herard it is the lifters. i dont know what those are and how would i fix this. i dont want my car to die now.

It's probably the lifters. They provide valve clearance between the came & valves. They are fed via oil, when oil is low, oil pressure may be lower, and cause valve clearances to grow & be out of spec, which could cause your ticking.

so whent to autozone. pcv was only like $4. rpms raise and then drop. dont stay at like 2 for a min. any more. it was not clogged but getting there. used 1 gallon of GTX and 1 Quart of Lucas full synthetic since i was already completely out of oil. so we will see how every thing goes. i think the noise is unavoidable however.

If the engine is dirty and/or low on oil then you will hear the lifters because they're not able to pump themselves up because clean oil isn't able to flow into them as designed. Lifters do go bad. On my current rebuild I found one lifter that is shot. A number of the others wouldn't pump up properly until I thoroughly cleaned them up first and pumped them up with fresh motor oil. Having said that, if you don't clean the engine internals at the same time you clean the hydraulic lifters then they can easily crud up again.
