Wiring HALP

Post by i_c_the_light »

I'm totally confused with this. the ignition switch has 5 wires coming out of it, okay. But then it plugs into a connector to the main loom, which has 4!!! So whats the story with this mystery connector. Does the connector to the loom come with 4 wires from factory or has it been hacked out when the turbotimer (now stolen) was put in?

Well the thing is, the car doesn't start. It seems the ECU and starter motor isn't getting power. Is there an earth missing from the loom connector?

I can't answer why there is a 5th wire. However this should help with the wiring.

Update!

Okay, I have power to ECU. Fuel and AWIC pumps are going. I just don't have the starter.

Now one of the 30 amp fuses in the engine bay are blown, so that probably explains the starter. Now, what does fuse #17 in the door kick panel protect?

*BUMP*

Gotta love car thieves for their lack of care with other peoples property.

Took the starter assembly to an auto electrician and tested it. The starter solenoid is completely burnt out.

Bastards.

Well my car is JDM, so it's going to have many little oddities like a 5th wire. The replacement igniton barrel assembly came from a V5 STi, and it has a 4 wire plug.
