Gaskets, bearings and seals kits for 22t rebuild question

Post by T-LEGGY »

Whats a good set of gaskets, bearings and seals for an ej22t? IM rebuilding it and can't find all that many opinions of what's available. Also I was told metal head gaskets are good idea. Can anyone recommend one? Is Copper or Steel better?

Having done a lot of reading, I chose the OEM overhaul gasket set via 1stsubaru parts.. Something like $230? Kit does not come with rings/bearings. For bearings I just used ACL Main & connecting rod race bearings-- Sounded like they have been used without issue in the past.

So the main and rod bearings didn't come with the kit?

I'll second the OEM gasket kit. it comes with all the little grommets and pieces you need.

Pics of what comes with the kit is on the bottom of the page.

Is this a good kit? Comes with main and rod bearings also and costs about the same as just the OEM gaskets

No idea.....I'd contact them and see if you can find out who makes the gaskets and bearings.

Honestly, I wouldn't put cheap bearings and head gaskets in my engine.

Where did you happen to buy your ACL bearings? I came across them on slowboy racing, but I've heard they're somewhat unreliable to deal with. I just bought the OEM gasket set. Just need the bearings and I will be set.

BAM! this is the place to get your bearings from. last i checked (3 Months ago) they had 18 sets of both.

I'd have to look and see where I bought them from. I bought the race versions which have a slightly stiffer backing I believe. This is my first experience with them, so we'll see how they work.
