The first thing that comes to mind that 1st gear and 4th gear have in common is what I saw when reading the TCU pinout that I found posted on the forums here. It shows that both 1st and 4th gear involve 12V (10-14V to be precise) on pin 14 of connector B33 which is listed as "Shift Solenoid 1&q...

I was planning to do something similar to this in the past (and still do, if I ever get around to it). My plan was a "3-stage" MBC using 2 MBCs, 2 boost control solenoids, a 3-way switch and lots of vacuum hose and tees and wiring. Basically with my setup the settings were stock (or more p...

well I can add that the t-bird one does not fit, close but does not fit. I plan on modding it heavily as it only cost me 25 bucks at the local scrap yard. Mike I know this is a pretty old post, but could you please elaborate on how exactly the T-bird turbo coupe IC doesn't fit? By looking at the di...

Thanks...my Legacy (and my RX, too, now that I think about it) has the same issue, I just never got around to asking about it. It turns over fine, but many times won't actually start unless you floor the gas (thus I had assumed it was just flooded or something, as IIRC flooring the gas on startup cu...

Boxer4Racing sells the RS Akimoto silicone vacuum hose in a combo pack that has 10-ft of 3mm, 5-ft of 6mm and 2-ft of 10mm for $29.99. http://www.teaguesauto.com/motor.htm (about halfway through the "intake" section) I also know that Summit Racing carries this item as well, since that's wh...

Actually, IronMonkey, you are referring to a different problem than the other two posts. :) The first issue is by design, I believe, to prevent you from locking your keys in the car (as you have to either lock the door from outside with the key or hold the exterior door latch open while you close th...

That's the same kind of gauge pod I have in the RX (I actually have two of them in the RX, one for the boost gauge and one for the A/F gauge)...simple design and unbelievably cheap (that's one of the very few parts where Autometer is actually LESS expensive than VDO).

The genuine Subaru OE clutch is $249 from Boxer4Racing ( http://www.teaguesauto.com/transmis.htm , then click "Clutch and Flywheel"). From what I've heard from Dale (at the aforementioned Boxer4Racing) there are two companies that make Subaru's OE clutches, one is Exedy, but I can't recall...

I know they are big among the domestic car guys (Camaros, Vettes, etc.). Just don't get the kevlar clutch setup. I've got the same tires on my 91SS but in the 205/50-16 size (on 6-spoke 2.5RS wheels). So far I am very happy with them. They are easily on par with the Ecsta ASXs on my 2.5RS and cost less. FYI: My experience is dry/wet conditions only. We've only gotten a very small amount of snow this winter and...

Throttle Body "Port" supposed to be plugged?

My 91SS recently developed an idle issue that is obviously a vacuum leak (as you can hear the air leak even from inside the car... ). Well I finally got around to looking at it today and found that if I seal the hole in that port on top of the throttle body with my finger, it idles great, but ...

They will indeed fit fine as will many other Subaru 16" wheels (including the 16x7 wheels from the 98-01 2.5RS, which is what my Legacy currently has). Note that to keep your speedo/odo close to correct, you may want to opt for a 205/50-16 tire as it is much closer to stock diameter than the 20...

I've seen threads about WRX ICs and their various fitment issues, but a full writeup (with pictures) like this will be very welcome compared to bits of text descriptions here and there about what does, doesn't and "kinda" fits. :)
