Wow, it pays to have forgotten to change my location! Turns out, when Mark found out all the problems with my SVX he decided to just tow it back and try to fix it all himself for me. Which should hold for quite a while, enough to take the car anywhere. But I'm still interested in getting a custom fa...

Thanks for the tip. It's not the headers, though--the headers are fine. The headers each feed into separate downpipes w/ cats, which then feed into another cat before going to the rear of the system. It's those three catalytic converter-fused parts which are damaged. http://www.subaruparts.com/subar...

I wish I'd had my camera with me when it was up on the lift, you should've seen it. See, someone off-roaded my SVX way before I owned it. Then either that someone or someone else decided that the best way to fix the holes in the downpipes he made would be to try to weld them shut himself. There are ...

Custom Exhaust Shop

Hey there all. SVX is having an exhaust leak that all the shops I've gone to want $1100 to fix. Just to replace the two downpipes and the midpipe! It's pretty ridiculous. For that, I'm pretty sure I could get a custom exhaust system with less catalytic converter installed. I remember lots of you guy...

Was your car a Sandstone Metallic? I can't really tell the color, but if it was, that's just one less Sandstone Metallic - we don't have many left these days (I thought Josh and I were the only ones who had them). Yes, sadly, it was a Sandstone Metallic--my car started life exactly as Josh's did--t...

Oh, no no no. I'm not badmouthing their skills. It was obvious within the first few minutes of browsing the SVX boards that these guys know their shit just like you guys do. I was really worried that the SVX community didn't have a Vikash or Mann to their name, but I found that the community is in v...

Fortunately the trannies and wheel bearings are little things, like how if you replace the wheel bearings properly they last just fine, and how if you add an external filter and cooler to the transmission it lasts too... :P And I dunno, it just struck me as odd when one of the guys on the SVX board ...

Sad Departures, New Arrivals...

Well, Mark Costa was the last guy to see me around... I've been back from college since last May, and have gotten a job at a local Office Depot. Still had my Legacy, she was still running great. I'd make monthly sojourns up to Rochester to visit friends and hang out, things were going pretty well. T...

Okay, update on my end. I wish this were a vacuum leak, but I just can't agree with my dad. It would have to happen all the time to be that, right? I shot some videos today. The video part sucks, but it's the sound that's important. Listen for the high-pitched whine. http://www.thawa.net/gallery/alb...

Spotted!

Hey, last Saturday (12/17) I was getting onto the Thruway by Route 390 out of Rochester (well, Henrietta, but whatever) and saw a white Legacy on the side of the road. Thought it was a 92-94 at first, but when I glanced in the mirror after going past it had a pre-facelift front end. Any of you guys ...

Normally I've got my iPod in and have random stuff too numerous to mention. No, seriously. I'm not gonna list it. If you're really that curious, there's a slightly dated database of it here: http://www.geocities.com/shiro_clanclan/iPod_Library.htm?200523 But since my iPod is quite dead right now, I'...

I've got the Alpine adapter in my car and adore it. Unfortunately, it's my iPod that's currently shot, so for the moment I live 1 CD at a time. XP Way too lazy to fix the damn thing. It's a really good setup, hell of a lot better (not to mention simpler) than the rigging I was going to do originally...

Well, a little update... There isn't really any noticeable change in driving characteristics while it's making this noise... the transmission always hesitates a little as it gets to 3k, but it's been there since as far as I can remember. Other than that it operates perfectly. My dad finally hears wh...

Wow... whoever said that you can't move a car when the e-brake is on... o.o; Occasionally I'll "forget" that it's been on while parked and go into reverse, then wonder why it's a little sluggish and turn it off... but it moves. ...then again, I don't think anything in the e-brake system ha...

Shiz... I hope this isn't the sound I've been hearing. I've been really hoping that the sound wasn't an engine or transmission sound... My car makes an odd sound when between 2500 and 3000 RPMs, in gear and under acceleration. By feathering the throttle I can sustain the sound for long enough to hea...

Heh, I've got family and such in town, so I know all about Rochester. Including the Tahoe's. ^_~

It's RIT I dun know much about. Secret governmental facilities, eh? I'll make a note of that.

Thanks!

Comin' Back!

Okay, everyone. After a crazy long hiatus, I have returned to the community and plan to stick around for as long as possible. The reason I was gone was due to college. I'm currently attending the Rochester Institute of Technology. My parents told me that if I get a B average or better my first quart...

Now I finally understand what the heck he's talking about with "jumping out of gear." When he described it, it hit me. Yeah, this happens with my 4EAT too. If you're cruising along and slam the pedal, you can feel it pull out of gear. There's a momentary loss of drivetrain power, the revs ...
