I'm with you 100% on the not-drinking-to-get-drunk. I can't be bothered to do that. In fact my friends and I have started having an yearly international beer festival. Because we're mostly computer nerdy folks and we hold the festival right around Christmas each year (to catch people home for the ho...

It's interesting to see this thread resurface a year later. I'd like to know how everyone is doing with their healthy lifestyle choices. I started eating less meat and more veggies and pasta. Also I try to avoid things like white bread or even whole wheat bread because they're mostly just over-refin...

first and second generation legacy alternators(?)

A thought just hit me (ow), are first and second generation legacy alternators cross-compatable? at a quick glance they look the same between my 94 and my 99 but I'm sure there's some sort of little difference I wouldn't notice untill I had the parts out of the car. reason I ask is that the alternat...

Couple of mine from the other morning after arriving at work. YES, that's from sliding sideways several times before parking. I had to clear off the right hand windows of my wagon before getting back on the road at one point that morning because I had sprayed a 2" layer of powder all dow...

Managed to get the new car out in some snow.

Yep, got the "new" 99 out in some snow today where she belongs. Luckily I also took my camera and got pretty much my favorite picture I've ever taken (as well as a couple other shots I liked): http://mvgrafx.ath.cx/~fishy/albums/99lego/DSCF1163.sized.jpg http://mvgrafx.ath.cx/~fishy/albums...

Today we're getting our first snow of the season, a nice greasy slimy snow that's covering the road and everything else. I've got TWO subarus and a honda... which car do you think was available to me today? yep, the honda! BOOOOOO oh well. the 99 is finally inspected and all legalized so I think I'l...

Here's a little tip I used when teaching a friend of mine to drive a manual car for the first time (his car, NOT mine! :) ) find yourself a dirt road with a hill on it. stop in the middle of the hill facing upwards. try to start moving again. lather. rinse. repeat. the dirt will be way more forgivin...

The bidding is over. Bought it!

Just took ownership of a brand spanking new (to me) 1999 Legacy L wagon! woo! now to sell my soul for sales tax, insurance, and inspection before I get to drive the damned thing. Ended up spending $6000 in canuck bucks for it and it's got no rust anywhere. 160,000kms on the clock. Hopefully it'll ma...

I'm not sure about where you live but around here you can pull your battery and take it into the parts store to have it load tested for free. some places even do alternators as well. might want to have them checked out on a machine. Rear seatbelt... wtf, mate?

Some time ago over the summer I replaced my right rear belt in the wagon because it wasn't retracting anymore. Turns out that the previous owner shattered that side window at some point and enough cubes of glass filtered down through the interior that some of them ended up getting into the seatbelt ...

Welcome to the board and to Legacy ownership! The tank in my 94 wagon rotted out right around the spouts where the filler and vent tubes attach to the tank (upper right rear corner). According to the dealership this is pretty common. Also according to the dealership a replacement tank is about $800c...

That is the infamous FWD Fuse socket. If you want AWD you want that fuse socket to be empty.

no FWD fuse = awd fun

KYB part numbers were the same for my 93 wagon as they were for any other, and the same for the GC8 as well.

So does that make turbo springs lower or just stiffer maybe?

Is it true? turbo wagon struts != regular wagon struts

There's a guy down the way who has done loads of work on legacys. I was chatting him up one day about maybe sticking outback struts in the old girl to perk her up a bit and he said the turbo was the lowest of the 3 legacy types and that even 'regular' wagon struts would be a bit higher than turbo wa...
