A couple of questions:

1) Does it really need an external charger? Some of the FTDI modules can draw their 5v power from the USB cable.

2) I presume you also connected to ground on the Metra connector, not just Rx and Tx?

I just finished this mod, works great. I cut the wire from pin 6 and used spade connectors to wire in a switch. Pin 4 on my B46 connector on the TCU was already filled with a teal blue wire. I cut it and wired up the 'Power' switch from there.

Kevin Franks' program is great for free, but it doesn't work properly through USB. That is why you are seeing zeros every other pass.

The absolute best way to find the parameters is by eavesdropping on a proper Subaru Select Monitor. If you don't have one then the next best way is by reading the program code, like I'm doing for the EJ15. But that is difficult and very time consuming.

Here are the parameters for my Legacy.

TomsSVX got the SVX addresses correct by eavesdropping a select monitor. Then I disassembled the program code on the Legacy and SVX and compared them to find the corresponding Legacy addresses. No guesswork involved.

My Legacy blew a brake light bulb a while ago. The "ABS" light on the dash lit up and the ABS stopped working. I guess my ABS computer treats a blown bulb as a malfunction and shuts down. When I replaced the bulb, the ABS started working again.

Yes. It works on the Legacy and also the SVX.
It's by far the best datalogging software available at the moment.

The 4EAT in older SVXes tends to self-destruct every 50-80 K miles. One of my SVXes is now on its third gearbox. Later models are better. I think it's not such a problem in a Legacy because it is lighter and has less torque.

It does sound like a TPS fault.

It's a black plastic box attached to the throttle body at the back of the inlet manifold. It's just a fancy type of potentiometer.

The power light on the dash should be continuously lit when the pin is grounded. And there will be a definite noticable effect on the performance. Like James said: "Holy Crap!!!!".

You could use a double throw switch. One side of it switches the TCU pin to ground, the other side switches the lamp to ground.

However, since it does drop out of power mode, if you really have to slow down for a tight turn, don't expect the power to be right there.
