EJ22/EJ22T hybrid...............
I have 2 complete engines. 1 EJ22T in pieces (thrown rod bearing) and an N/A EJ22 complete.. Not sure if it was posted on this board, but, IIRC I can install the EJ22T heads and turbo related parts onto the N/A block without changing the pistons?.............I would have to use the thicker head gask...

I got the conversion up and running yesterday. Only things I had to do to use the N/A engine was: ---swap the wiring for both the cam sensor and crank sensor ---use the N/A MAF ---use the N/A ECU ---plug the turbo harness into the N/A engine harness Everything else was fine. The engine plugs were th...

Not really a trick or anything. Just another tool to add to your tool box. Lisle Spill-Free Funnel, just let the vehicle run and keep the funnel filled. It'll bleed the system out when the vehicle warms up. Or if you want, before you install the t-stat in the car. Put a pill, I prefer to use the co...

EJ22T wiring harness on an N/A ej22
I'm swapping out the (1991)EJ22T in my 1988 VW Van for an (1991)N/A EJ22 . From what I understand the harness will work except for having to switch around the cam and crank sensor wiring and obviously not using the turbo related components and wires off the ECU for those. Just want to make sure I'm ...

thanks for the info! I'm not too worried about doing the job I just wanted to avoid coolant loss. The cooling system is a biatch to bleed air out of it when running a Subie engine in a VW.The rad is in the front of the van so there is miles of coolant hoses to trap air. Didn't even think about just ...

what cat. do you recommend?
Hello all.........a bit of a Subie-noob but from my lurking here I am sure I'll find some help. This BB has been a HUUUUGE help in my Subaru engine conversion. I'm running an EJ22T that I pulled out of a $500 - 1991 AWD Auto Legacy Sedan,in my 1988 VW vanagon. It simply kicks ass with this engine. I...

what kind of mess will I get into ..........cam seals ej22t
I've lurked and gleaned tonnes from this site now I have a question:
I need to change the rear cam seals on my 1991 ej22t. When I unbolt the 4 bolt 'cover' behind the turbo can I expect to get showered with coolant and motor-oil or will it be just a simple minor issue?
thnks, timmay

Blow off valve or air bypass valve..........
kind of a newb to all things turbo.....hopefully posting in the right spot..... I have an EJ22T out of a 1991 AWD Legacy sedan. When pulling the engine out ,I broke the nipple off of the 'air bypass valve" which is under the intake pipe to the throttle body. The nipple was plumbed to the manifo...
