FWD 4eat compatibility
My transmission finally bit the bullet. Pinion bearings have busted and the transfer case is full of ATF fluid. I can hear bearings bouncing around, and the speedo has stopped working. I guess the gear got taken out. Amazingly it still "goes" but what a racket, and its pretty jerky. So I n...

No. :( The underside is rusted to hell. Bolts wouldn't budge. The glass was caved in and resting on the dash, we had no idea how to get the dash out. We even tried bashing it out but the hammer just bounced off the plastic. It was Impossible to get back at those 4 bolts that hold the brake/clutch pe...

I'm not looking forward to disassembling that car monday morning. There's no place for power tools, it will just be me and a friend with a breaker bar, a met...

I ran straight pipe for awhile. Never got pulled over, but then I live in a area with many Harleys, biker bars, and Hicks with big trucks and no muffler either. I was still really paranoid though. My decision to go no muffler coincided with the local constables decision to set up a multiple patrol c...

I'm sort of a noob to when it comes to our engines too lol. For fun I have looked at the different combinations but it seems like all the heads made for turbo cars had different oil/water ports then the NA versions. I'm not sure if they would fit up. but they are nice since they have the turbo cams ...

I had the exact same idle trouble with my Buick. Check your voltage level at idle with a multimeter. If your alternator is only breaking even, the battery can get weak and things get a little crazy. Also it wouldn't hurt to make sure all your vacuum lines are clamped on and not just pressed on. See ...

Ugh, now this is the second horrible Rice job I've seen. I didn't notice the styling ripoffs ill you guys pointed it out. I can be pretty dull lol. Personally, I don't mind the attempts at ripping off other cars, its the horrible workmanship that kills me. The hood doesn't match up cleanly anymore, ...

Finally a car that may work turned up. It's a 1993 Impreza http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/pts/1475906578.html According to http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=18370 it sounds like everything off this car will bolt up ok onto my car, minus the driveshaft of course. I can get all the parts (...

1. Nope, sorry. 2. Yes and no. it comes apart real easy, but its not immediately obvious how it goes back together. The insides of PS pump is made in layers. Starting from the front, theres a solid 'flow guide' I guess I'll call it, this weird metal paddle wheel inside a oval shaped collar and then ...

Anyway, I found a '99 Legacy outback and would like to know if anyone here knows if the parts on it will fit up (or fit up with minor modifications). Thanks for that link btw, it's really been helpful. I just wa...

Need info for upcoming Project
The project: Convert my 1994 Legacy L from FWD automatic to *update* FWD manual. Reasons: - My Front Differential has a bad bearing, or bearings. Its performance is erratic and the noise it makes is intolerable. - I love my Subaru, the boxer growl, the way it handles. I don't want to give it up and ...

I really like this community too. I'm really fortunate this is the first 'car community' I have joined. I've learned soo much from reading all the different posts here. The only other car community I frequent would be the Auto's section of 4chan.org. Those guys are the most cynical, sarcastic and fo...

Thanks for the help guys. I didn't really have any trouble until I got the the crank pulley bolt out. That pulley was held tight by sheer pressure to that key and I had to end up getting a long bar, wedged against the alternator, and bounce the car back and forth with the force I was putting on the ...

My Crank Pulley has separated...
Just like the title says. The Crank Pulley is in two pieces. A outer ring now laying on the ground, and a inner piece still firmly bolted onto the crank. I discovered my pulley had a wobble and ordered a cheap alu pulley to replace it with, for now at least. 30$ was the most I could afford for a pul...

I've seen some stuff on the internet about other ppl who put a eg33 in their legacy. They had to cut out the front metal and move the radiator up. I would try that but I have a FWD Legacy L. I'm always going back and forth in my mind about the value in building up a FWD. There is that Scion FWD with...

Ok, ok i looked a little harder and found the two nipples where the heater hoses should be hooked up but they aren't. I looked at the driver side head and I saw a hose coming out of that watertube thing that goes underneath the intake manifold just routed back into a nipple on the head. Also, while ...

Heater core hose locations?
It's juust starting to get a bit nippy here in Florida and I tried turning on my heater and...no heat! So first thing I thought was maybe its the thermostat, but the engine temp gauge goes up halfway and stays there when the engine gets hot. I'm sure if the thermostat was bad it'd either stay lowish...

I live in Florida and I don't mind not having A/C. I never have A/C anyway... :? It does help that I used to do a lot of endurance cycling. You know, going like 60, 80 or 100 miles in 1 day trips on my bicycle. You could say that experience has made me more tolerant of the heat. EDIT: nvm I found ou...
