Hey all,
Just did the 5mt swap in my 91 fwd legacy. I was looking at the Auto crossmember and wondered..
Will adding the auto cross member add strength to chassis or am i wasting my time?
Thanks

Re: 96 EJ22 in 91 legacy
Update Motor and 5mt box in and functioning correctly. Thankfully. I would just like to say a huge thanks to Josh fr the write up on your website, The electrical wiring was a breeze thanks to it. I ended up using 96 block and heads with 91 intake manifold. I kept all 96 sensors except as josh sugges...

Hey guys, Doing a standard rebuild of an ej22. There is uneven build up of carbon in cylinders 1 and 3 compared to Cylinders 2 and 4. 1 and 3 have a much larger amount of carbon. Re: 5mt swap speed sensor
Thanks for that. I though that may be the case. The auto cable enters the gearbox close to the firewall, where the manual looks as it sits more toward the back of the tranny. Haven't measured it as yet but it doesn't look long enough. Will hit the wreckers today. Cant wait to get the box in and driv...

Re: 96 EJ22 in 91 legacy
hey
Just an update. the exhaust ports are the same on both 91 and 96 heads here in oz. Single exhaust port per cylinder. i can get photo's of heads if you like.
I did learn that the auto box is huge compared to the 5mt.
cheers

5mt swap speed sensor
Hey all, In the process of 5mt swap. On my 91 legacy the auto gearbox has a cable speedo cable. In the 5mt it is a sensor. It's from a 96 legacy. Can I just remove the sensor from the 5mt and use a cable? If not can I just change my instrument cluster? I know the above is a long shot..... any help w...

Intake manifold height and benefits
Hey all, My car is a 91 legacy. I have 2 intake manifolds, both came from legacy's, 1 from a 91 ej22m and a 96 ej22. The 96 manifold has longer tubes to the heads. I estimate it to be about 20-30mm higher from the top of the block. The 91 manifold would be better if you had a top mount, but are ther...

Re: 96 EJ22 in 91 legacy
Thanks lecacy777 I will see what condition the motor is in when I get it back home if I have to rebuild the motor I will make a hybrid. I think I will do the straight swap if i can and use 96 Ecu. I like troubleshooting wiring problems. the 96 headers should bolt Up to the 91 exhaust? will get those...
