I got another engine Saturday. $137 for a 149K EJ22 from a car that got mauled in the ass. I had it pulled in 2.25 hours, working by my self. The engine collapsed a wheelbarrow which I had to wrestle almost 1/4 mile back to the counter. Then I had to lift the engine into the back of my truck by myse...

This pertains to aircooled ones
I hate that the engines only have 60 hp, and you have to weed though all the crappy parts on the market before you can find the good ones, which cost too much. And I can't tune dual weber's very well. That's why I'm here. I realize this is an economy car in the very essence of the word. That'...

I am the self-proclaimed Master of blowing up indestructable engines without trying. This includes a slant-six, I was just cruising when it holed #5 piston. This engine had something like 214k on it when i got it. I started it when I pulled it, it ran good, a little valve noise. When I initially got...

Ciper has permission to hit me with a claw hammer
Seeing how I blew up the EJ22 in the back of my beetle without even trying. I had just blown a spiderweb (this project has taken me a while) out of the MAF sensor housing and I was excited that I may have found the problem of why this engine wouldn't rev over 3000 rpm. That was it all right. My Fath...

A couple more ecu questions
First, i'd like to thank those who helped me out. I do have a couple lingering issues, though. I keep getting codes for MAF and idle air controller. They have both been replaced with some used parts. It's no longer the "wrong Maf sensor" code but the "abnormal voltage" one. I'm a...

One more

No, I didn't clean anything up. I just stuck it together. Wanna make it look natural, for, you know, old VW's.

The light in the ecu acts like the cel sometimes, right? In which case, I have knock and MAF codes, and a dead idle air controller. The maf codes might be from when i had the wrong MaF on it, have hitachi one on it now to match the ecu. I know the IAC is dead, because the giant vacuum leaks are the ...

2-stroke diesels do have higher BSFC-per-hp numbers than 4-stroke diesels. And yes, I was talking about diesels back there. Even though they have a blower on the engine for cylinder evacuation, it doesn't get it all out. A turbo on top of the blower makes this problem much, much smaller. This accord...
