Boost Issues...Solenoid Problems?

Post by Subaru_Nation555 »

I recently installed a Saab 900 intercooler on my legacy. Everything was working fine until I started my car last night and it threw a check CEL. I have yet to check the code becasue the other green connector is stuck up in the other wiring but the code comes and goes. The car is acting like there is a boost leak so I took off the intercooler to eliminate that as a problem but it didn't seem to have an effect. I checked all the vacuum lines and everything looks in order. Sounds like it might be the boost control solenoid. Any suggestions?

Use the black connectors to check the codes, the green connectors are to clear them

Well, a lot of things can make it run wrong. Get those codes and maybe we can help.

Checked the codes. 22-knock sensor. It seems to be acting normally now, the CEL is gone but the sensor is the original one. Think it should be replaced?

Only one code? That's a miracle

Well, if the code comes back, I guess you do have to replace it.

If it's the original one, I'd probably replace it. The old style does have a tendancy to crack.

What would a new one run from the dealer?

http://pa.partsandaccessories.com

has them for about 60 dollars for the oem and about 50 dollars for the bosch.

if you go to the dealership, better have your kidney removed ahead of time i'd imagine.

I got my OEM knock sensor from 1stsubaruparts.com, for about $45 I believe. It's actually a Subaru dealership somewhere on the west coast

Also there seemed to be a lot of oil in the intercooler for it only being on for 150 miles.
