mushy suspension

Post by sktngisnotacrime »

the suspension on my car seems to be much softer than on most cars. is there ANY way to stiffen it without buying lowering springs.????

just wondering, thanks

How old are the struts?

The first time I replaced struts on a car, the first drive afterwards was like an epiphany. I simply never realized how much the worn struts were detracting from the car's personality, because they wore out so slowly.

Then I strongly suggest getting a set of KYB GR2s. The GR2 is a very good aftermarket strut. They should cost you about $70 a corner and will dramatically change your car's feel.

Don't forget replacement springs, too. Fresh springs and shocks all the way around will make a world of difference. And I do believe your car lacks a rear sway bar... installing one will help heaps also.

You don't even need to do springs. Springs is one of those things that "technically" you don't need to replace....or shouldn't have to. Put new struts on and it will be night and day. Trust me.

Ok, where can I find a GR2s for $70 a corner? I also need front strut mounts for my car, and I'd prefer not to pay an arm and a leg for them.

Sears carries KYB GR2s? I've only seen Konis and Monroes there.

strutts

Post by Jr.SubaruLvr »

i know why my search turned out $108. i entered my veichle as a 1990 legacy wagon and if you enter it as a 1992 it gives you $58. Now i know that this is already somewhere in the bbs, but will a 1992 fwd legacy wagon strut fit a 1990 fwd legacy wagon with tapered springs? Thanks p.s. i'm looking for rears by the way.

Ah, hmm. Yeha, i'm sure it's on the board somewhere... but i believe the only difference w/ tapered springs was the top mount.
