what type of oil do u use
yea just seeing what other ppl use for oil for when i do my oil change never changed it in my ss but will when i get it up and running i use quaker 10w30 in my 92 legacy na every 4000-5000km but not planning on using it in the 22t and i just used fram oil filters also how many litre of oil does the 22t take
Re: what type of oil do u use
i use royal purple oil and filters
92 turbo legacy: RWD W58 SWAP, td04, 3"tbe, mbc, fmic, wrx brakes/hubs, wrx seats, welded 4.11, fcd, drift steering wheel, Drifting Stickers
Re: what type of oil do u use
I use 10w30 castrol syntec and a Subaru oil filter when I change the oil in my TW. The oil capacity is 4L for the turbo engine. You should also change the crush washer on the drain plug every time you change the oil. Avoid Fram filters, they're cheap for a reason. If you're going to use an aftermarket oil filter, Purolator filters are probably the best to use.

Re: what type of oil do u use
same here, and last bought high mileage chevron oil, seems to work fine. My ride leaks oil so I get to experiment with all brands hehe.LookAsubie wrote:Castrol Syntec 10w-30 and Fram filter. Every ~3k
I have a friend that use to have an oil leaking car back in the days that ran forever since the oil was always clean lol...

Re: what type of oil do u use
Castrol 10w-30 (dead dinosaur type) and Purolator filter. I usually like to change my oil after a race so like once a month. Always worked well for me.
( I change it every 3k in the off months)

Re: what type of oil do u use
I use whatever brand's on sale with a filter included.
Before when I had an engine with bad bearings I used 20w-50 and now I just stick with 10w-40.
The 20w-50 kept that engine running for the 37k miles I put on it with the main bearing going. Wix filters
are some of the best, but they're hard to find here. Royal Purple's like $8 a quart here. I'm going with
Eneos Fully Synthetic 10w-30 now though since my neighbor can get me oil changes for $30.

Re: what type of oil do u use
i was thinking that.. when i change my oil im probly just gunna go with mobil are castrol 10w30 dunno about which filter probly stick with fram idk i never had a problem with themkimokalihi wrote:Royal purple is a retarded waste of money.
Re: what type of oil do u use
Castrol's not a great oil. Mobil is probably your best bet for the cheaper oils.
Fram's ok if you get the better quality. The Purolators suck if you get the regular,
but the PureOne is good.

I thought this post was for people to let others know what they use, not bash on what others use. Everybody has their own opinion on what they like and use in their car.

can someone actually tell me chemically why one oil is better than the other, not just based on price and personal preference

Re: what type of oil do u use
i cant tell u chemically but i know that quaker oil gets black fast and some people says it leaves sludge but i still used it i think mainly just change your oil on a reguler basis my father uses mobil1 and after 5000km and it doesnt seem to be as black as quaker state im probly gunna use castrol are mobil1 but if i do use quaker in my ss motor ill change my oil sooner
