Running Supppppppper Rich WOT

Post by darkcrave »

I was run running 10.1 sometimes during idle, other times it would idle 15.1.
Under WOT, AFR would drop 9.1 and the car would bog down.
Only under WOT, normal driving was fine

Tonight i Cleaned my MAF, Plugs and clean my O2 connectors. Now the car is idling 15-16.1. But under WOT the AFR will drop extremely rich.

Listen to the engine under WOT.
**At 7secs in the video, i had my foot all the way on the gas, the car completely stop accelerating

might be time to upgrade to a JEKS MAF. when I was running the stock MAF Angel would suddenly go rich when the Turbo spooled, My thoughs on the matter, once the MAF hits its max read instead of stopping fuel where it is it signals all open.

Just my 2c. not sure if this helps but it was my experience after PRE replaced my JEKS with a OEM MAF without my permission.

make sure the blue wire to your MAF is grounded to body... all I can think of. best of luck!

if your BOV blows off to atmosphere this could be the problem. mine runs rich after blow off. i tightened the spring so it is not as bad but still runs a little rich after pushing her. normal driving it is fine

EDIt: the MAF measures all the air going in, and if your BOV is not recirculating, the computer gives fuel for all the air going in, including that which was blown off. causing it to run rich

Has it always been running this way, or did it just happen? If it's been running like this since installing the Robtune, I'd suggest contacting him to see if he has any suggestions.

Is that an ebay bpv? I'd check to make sure its not floating open under load. I had a cheapo ebay bov at one point that would float open and do something similar. Swap in the factory one or a get a cheap Volvo/Saab one from a wrecking yard and see if it runs any better.

The gap was the stock NGK Gap, which was around .45

Stock gap really shouldn't be more than .043".

The stock gap range is 1mm - 1.1mm, which is .039" - .043"

I'll go to .044" sometimes, but I wouldn't go too much further, especially on a turbo car. If your ignition system is weaker, then a smaller gap would be better.

Yeah that's probably a little too small, but you can see if it makes any difference.
