What did you do to your Subie today?

Post by speezly »

cj91legss wrote:If you have stock ss brakes, I used a 1" non abs master cyl and pro valve. Seems to work fine so far. I don't do heavy braking.

I do plan to upgrade tho since I also want some 4-2 pots.
I still haven't put the SVX master cylinder in yet, but the stock Non abs master cylinder in my n/a is handling it all fine for daily driving. I did get a chance to paint the brakes with some engine enamel I had laying around. Image

If I find a master cylinder, I will jump on it. But like you, what I have is fine for daily driving. I still want 4-2 pots tho, mostly because they look great.

Didn't do anything, but trying to get a WRX mid-pipe welded to an new donut flange to fit the forester cat. I finally found a fozzy cat to go with the borla replica headers, so stuff is moving along I guess.

Also fixed my over heating by installing new electric fans and then having hooked up to a stand alone temp sensor in the upper radiator hose.

After the exhaust I'll be working on a custom skid pan to protect the oil pan; its kind of rediculous that the pan hangs lower then the front bumper, and being that I lowered the car and the front is lower and the rake makes it even lower, I'd rather not rip off the oil pan a curb.

And then hopefully after all of that I can go back and fix my crank nose because it's just so worn out :( so I'll try and use some JB metal weld with a new woodruff-key and lightweight crank pulley.

EDIT: It seems like a lot of work, don't even get my started on the Miata! Haha

Yeah the painted stock Wrx brakes don't have the same effect. Are 17s required to fit the 4-2s?

I tried several oem subaru 16" alloys and they barely touch, aftermarket 16's no problem.

Both my 04-? Forrester XT and 00 Impreza RS wheels clear 4 pots. For 15s I'm no aware of any OEM wheels that fit.

Got these partially installed a few days ago. Still have to install the sensors and do the electrics.

I had mine like that too. I didn't like the fact that the radio was right under the dash vent. Radio would get too warm in my opinion.

The pocket needed some holes drilled in the bracket, but it was a super easy deal.

That is my favorite cover song! Tomorrow I need to "Get the f*** up!" And finish my lateral link and end link job.

My favorite cover is Hurt - Johnny Cash

Then:
Faith - LB
Behind Blue Eyes - LB
And just about any Pop Goes Punk cover haha.

Got some new tires for the 17's and an alignment.

Making some moves with the body tomorrow :) most people probably won't like it, but I've always wanted to do this.

I finally finished the job from hell. Passenger side lateral link bolt came out fine but then the driver side struck. And by struck I mean stuck. Finally started putting it together tonight and realized the stock sway bar doesn't work with the Whiteline end links. Had to get a longer bolt and some bigger washers but it all finally came together!

Quick question: Will my steering wheel be off a bit if my alignment is screwed up in the back?

And now some photos:

Interested to see what you have going with the body waterboy!

speezly wrote:Good to know. I just assumed the larger master cylinder would need the matching prop valve. Trying to learn as much as I can. And I hunted on car-parts.com for a while and I came across the master cylinder.

The proportioning valve only changes between the wagon & sedan...changing the MC won't affect it. There are different types of proportioning valves between non-abs & ABS cars.

As for identifying which is which (sedan or wagon) I don't recall seeing any markings on the non-abs one. I think the new wagon non-abs prop valve had a purple rubber band on it, while the old sedan had blue I think, but I wouldn't expect those bands to survive.

If you mean, will your steering wheel not be centered properly, then no it shouldn't be affected by how the rear is setup.

That's not what I was hoping the answer would be! Every fix seems to start a mini domino effect.

If your front end alignment is still good, you can remove steering wheel and reinstall it a couple splines over to center it.
