Found the solenoid top connector full of "crap" (oil/sludge/dirt). Cleaned it up and the problem is gone. Thanks for the suggestion Josh. While cleaning that I leaned on the turbo hose off the small black filler tank and broke that off. The plastic nipple was all brittle. No wreckers have ...

When my car was 6 years old (140,000 kms) I buried the speed needle, which was over 220 km/h. Completely stock except for drop-in K&N filter.

It's been 7 years now and at 236,000 kms I don't think I can do any more.
Still burns no oil.

Hesitant Starting

I am having an intermitant non-starting problem. Starting about 2 weeks ago when I go to start the car (turning the key) there is a "click" from the solenoid, then nothing. Eventually by doing this 3 or 4 times it does start, but I'm wondering if something is starting to go. I have checked...

HKS Tubo Timer - ON/OFF Intermitantly

My 3 year old HKS turbo timer has suddenly started to turn itself on and off at will while driving.
If anyone has had a similar problem could you tell me if this is some type of ground fault or lose wiring either in the harness connection or in the unit itself?

Thanks

ej22t - That sounds like it's the same wheel that I'm trying to get rid of.

Replacing stock steering wheel

I'd like to replace the stock steering wheel with another that's more "eye catching" and hopefully away from a "grandfatherly-look".

What later year of Subaru can I mount without having to buy an adapter.

Thanks

I have been running a straight pipe from the flange back, for over a year now. Nothing fancy.
I love the sound and it only cost me $70 CDN
Nothing like hearing that boxer engine rev up.

All pads are checked and plenty left. Fluid is topped up.
Recleaned brake fluid reservoir including top of level sensor this weekend and the light is not on at the moment. Let's see if this lasts as long as the last time.

Replacing the valve cover gaskets are easy. It took me about 3 hours to do it, but that was only because I wanted to take out the right cover without removing the air filter housing first. I finally gave up, took the filter housing off anf then it was ok. In my car (2.2 turbo) you only have about 1/...

Yes, valve cover gaskets.
I replaced mine and also the rubber ring at the bottom of the oil filler neck spout. before going ahead with this look all around the valve covers (top and bottom).

Last year I installed a DynoMax UltraFlow ($90CDN) after my stock muffer had to be replaced. I liked the low, rumbling, unabrussive sound it made and you can tell you really have a boxer engine. However, even though this is a free-flow muffler I found it wasn't loud enough for my liking, so I had a ...

Brake Dash Light/Fluid Level Sensor

For the past 2 months the brake light has been coming on when the hand brake is released. After about 1/2 hour it goes off. I have checked the hand brake switch I have traced this fault to the brake reservoir fluid level sensor. I cleaned the sensor and replaced the fluid 2 weeks ago which solved th...

If you're thinking of making a 3 guage pod I'd be interested in ordering one. Have you thought of $$$$ ?

Locating the EGR Valve

The Haynes manual shows where the EGR valve is located (probably showing on a later model), but I cannot find it when I look under the hood of my Canadian 91 Turbo. Is it located elsewhere in my model year? I really have looked everywhere I can.

Rattleling Turbo Housing?

Has anyone had the following noise problem? For the past 6 months or so, there has been a rattleling sound (like a loose or fractured heat shield) from the turbo area. I have taken out the turbo shielding but the noise is still there, especially at idle, disappearing as the revs go higher. The turbo...
