my speedo died a couple days ago as well. Turns out the same part failed on me in my 92 Legacy SS. I pulled it out of the tranny and the piece that looks like a flathead screwdriver bit had snapped off the shaft. I guess they seize up in the bushing and the gear in the tranny breaks them off. I imag...

i have an hks ssqv here off a wrx. I was keeping it to use when I tune people's cars if I suspect their stock wrx recirc. valve is leaking under boost. It turns out that I've never used it so if someone wants it they can pm me with an offer.

My idle whine (a pulsing whine) was traced to a bad water pump. Might want to check that out.... i agree...with 150k it's probably shot. start adding up all the work that needs done. If the water pump needs replaced, have the oil pump resealed, and the timing belt replaced at the same time. Leaking...

on my wrx I just switched the coolant and oil hard lines over and then reinstalled.

make sure you get all the air out of the coolant system after you're done swapping the turbo.

as a side note...now would be the best time to port the wastegate if you're up to it.

I had forgot about NPG...thanks for refreshing my memory. Today I'm going to look at the radiators in my WRX and Legacy turbo next to each other and see if it makes sense to rig a WRX one to work or not. I'd love to avoid going custom on yet another component in this car.

honestly.....there's really no need for one. do mean in stock trim or even with mods? :) Even with mods. I never had any problems with overheating. And mine was modded considerably. Legacy777 backs it up with egt numbers, too! I say you save that money you're gonna spend on a radiator and get an in...

what are you basing that on?

I'm going to run sustained 1500 degree EGT's and do lots of autocross, rally, and some track days at watkins etc. My cooling system needs taken care of as much as anything else.

just in case anyone is wondering if the opposite works...I'm using an NA radiator in my 2.2T at the moment and it works perfectly.

I'm doing this while I search for a racing radiator...but i'll make my own thread for that.

make sure to choose an appropriate strut to go along with the springs, agx's with adjustable dampening would be ideal, you'll need the stiffer valving. Koni Sport Inserts Front and Rear for WRX and agx's don't come close to the performance of koni's if you ask me...and yes I've driven cars with both.

hotbits is a nice setup option or dms gold 40mm.
nino is selling the wrx ones for 975 shipped as a package...and I haven't asked yet but I'm guessing the gc8 ground controls will be the same price.

i've got group N engine and tranny mounts already. Chances are I'll end up getting some swaybars and endlinks for it, but I want to get the balance of the car set with the front/rear spring rates and then use swaybars to keep the car from rolling rather than using them to induce oversteer.

Do they make some that will fit for the front?

Let's talk...6MT into Legacy SS

Assuming this is a non DCCD 6 speed STi tranny, and the flywheel, shifter assembly, clutch disc and pressure plate are included, what else would I need to make this work in a USDM Legacy Sport Sedan?

Do all the 6 speeds require the R180 rear end?

How about axles...will they bolt up?

thanks,
-Mike

reset the ecu after making an adjustment like that. That should straighten out the timing once the ECU relearns.

if you haven't done that before:
just disconnect the battery before you go to sleep tonight and reconnect it tomorrow when you need to use the car. this will reset the ECU.
