Re: Safari Legacy Build...
Here's some progress: Push bar is almost complete! I cut the crash beam mounts off.. *drilled the spot welds* http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l180/yasafusa/Offroad%20Subaru%20Legacy%20ZL2/IMAG0624.jpg I then attached the braces to the car, welded a bar between them to locate the pieces while I've ...

Can I hang out at your place on the weekends? RE: the alignment pin removal. You could weld a stud, or something else, to the remainder of the pin to attach a slide hammer to. If the remainder of the pin isn't too deep in the hole, of course. Hehe, well, it's my buddy's shop, but people are definit...

I was talking about the radiator, since it seems you'r talking about laying it back for clearance, you could see multiple benefits with ducting. oh hehe, yeah, that's what I meant, I was having a bit of a brainfart then... My gasket and seal sets came in, here's the car so far: 1. Clean up all burs...

Re: Safari Legacy Build...
Not that it's a concern with this build, but you should also improve the cooling efficiency and reduce drag by doing this kind of md, blocking off the grille, and ducting the air through the bottom, through the radiator, and out a large hood vent, like the rally car uses. Yeah, if I went with a ral...

So the process for the lifters is wet sand the tops to be rounded then polish them smooth? I watched the video and that seems to be what you did. Yup, I've a bit of experience doing metal and mild porting work, so I know what to look for... Not causing flat spots during the wet sanding part is cruc...

Yeah. Pretty sure mine will get on board with it if I sell the RS. And camping can be fun :D Yup, this thing will be a camping machine! So it should be quite fun, but daily drivable too! Progress: I've cleaned up my engine, tidied up the HLA bits and then installed a badly needed pair of valve cove...

Re: What has your Soob towed lately??
Last June, I pulled out a FWD Saab 5spd out of the Yuma dunes... HE ROASTED his clutch- buring his car and I just hooked up my tow strap and gave him a nice even pull and it pulled right back onto the road with my STi, though he ALMOST hit me.. yeesh! I have a picture somewhere of him stuck, but not...

Re: Is the key code stamped anywhere?
The key's cut-code is indicated via a stamp on the pass. side lock cyl. Also, you can get it via a VIN from Subaru, provided you have proof of ownership like those mentioned above... If you dont have original locks and want to keep the same key, which is slightly expensive in most places, as long as...

Do you own that garage? Everything you're doing looks like fun. I wish I had a place like that that I could work and I wish I knew how to weld...that'd help. There's so much stuff like that I would be doing with a spare Legacy or Impreza. I want to sell my 98 RS and make an offroad Legacy Wagon or ...

Update: I found out why it stopped driving and why there was a noise coming from the gearbox... The torque converter's flex plate broke.. It just twisted the center out of it! So when the only thing connecting the engine to trans was the torque converter's alignment pin- in the crank, it TWISTED it ...
