4EAT SWAP QUESTION

Hey guys,

I need to know if a '91 SS 4EAT (slipping, binding tranny) and diff can be swapped with a '95 NA tranny and diff. Also, will this solve my binding problem at the same time.

Tks,
Fred

Thanks DeusExMachina.
But how were you able to apply the grease to the ball joints without them having any grease fittings?

Mine is loud. Everyone that rides in my car also thinks it sounds like a plane about to take off.

DeusExMachina,

It appears I have the same symptoms that you do. Have you been able to figure out a solution yet?

Thanks

I never heard about Synthetic oil causing oil leaks until it was too late. I agree with dzx. My car didn't even have high mileage. The low 100,000 km's when I switched. Engine was always dry which I was proud of. Decided to switch as I heard it's better for the turbo. After my first synthetic oil ch...

I installed the WRX coolant tank on my car. I was able to fabricate 1 bracket and place the tank in-between the ABS module and the power steering reservoir without any issues. The link below has a pic of it; unfortunately it's not a close-up. http://www.torontolegacys.com/members/Freddex/03.jpg reg...

Hey guys, I haven't posted in ages and I was going to ask if our cars are supposed to be shooting flames out of our exhaust. So was happy when I saw this post! Interesting stuff! I've had two people tell me that they have seen flames in my exhaust over the years. I thought it was just some freak thi...

I wouldn't recommend using PVC to plum in your DV. I originally used a plastic "T" to allow me to put the stock DV on a WRX intercooler. This gave me an extremely loud reverberating type of noise and vibration at 0 Vac/Boost and eventually warped due to the extreme high temperatures. So af...

PJ,

I just used a rad hose I bought from Canadian Tire to connect the IC to the turbo.

I discharged it myself and haven't gotten it recharged yet as it's cold outside now anyways.

PJ I put in a NA AC line on my car. It does work and I don't think it will be a problem. Just like yourself I did not want to loose my AC so this appears to be the only alternative. I've also installed a 2002 USDM WRX intercooler and with this intercooler the original turbo chimney has to be removed...

If you get an AC line from a NA Legacy (which is what I did) you will not have to worry about it touching the IC. Only problem is that you will have to get your AC recharged.

I put the Platinum NGK's in my car a couple of months ago. I bought the one's listed for my car and didn't adjust the gap on them. I was told that all spark plugs come pre-gaped so as long as it is the correct plug for my car it would be fine. Is this true?

Very interesting! That's pretty funny! Now I feel even more proud of my setup as it's completely original! But I did have myself wondering the other day why Subaru would have the HOT coolant running so close to the interCOOLer. But heah it looks good, intercooler still keeps cool and I'm going to ad...

Re. hesitation I found this from Sport Compact Car very interesting. This was about the new WRX but I wouldn't be surprised if the same applies to our Legacy Turbos. Sorry guys I don't have any pics! But I just bought some heater hose and extended the two big coolant lines (the one from the turbo & the one that goes into the engine) by attaching a brass barb (and clamps of course) on the ends of both OEM hoses. Then you just run the new hose to your new loca...

Hey Guys, I've had a frustrating leaky coolant tank for about a year and now I have a WRX IC to install. Knowing that I needed to move my tank I felt it was time for a new one. I couldn't stand the thought of buying the OEM PLASTIC tank so after looking over a WRX in the show room I decided I would ...
