Alignment after Diff removal?
Does anyone know if I will have to align the rear wheels on a 1991 Legacy after replacing the rear differential? I've looked under the Subies at the junkyard and the half-shafts are just hanging there still attached to the wheels with the diff removed and nothing else visibly touched. I assume I'll ...

Update
FYI...found out from Subie tech that these bearings rarely go out. If they do you'll see leakage signs on the transaxle or diff housing. They don't get the torsional weight transfer from the wheels and they're also lubricated by the tranny or diff oil so if you change often all the better.

Transaxle Half-Shaft Bearings?
I posted this on NASIOC but haven't had anyone reply yet. Since this is a specialized Legacy group maybe someone knows here? I'm about to replace the front wheel bearings and it started me thinking about the bearings that the inner axle shafts mount into within the transaxle, do they ever go out? Sa...

How long before springs wear out?
I've got a '91 Legacy wagon with 225K. The springs aren't broken but could they be worn out or does it generally take longer than that? What tools do I need to test them?

Compression Test Adjustment for Altitude?
Hi, I searched for this topic but wasn't able to find anything. I've got a '91 Legacy with the 2.2 L. I've heard varying instructions on adjusting the compression numbers for altitude. I'm currently at 8,000 ft. so should I add 16 psi (2psi/1,000ft.) to the end result on a cylinder or just read the ...

Operation of A/C?
I'm not quite sure which forum to ask this so I'll put it out here. Is there a temperature sensor for the A/C? The question comes not from a problem but just interest in how the system works. If I put the fan on high with the A/C on the coldest setting does it cycle on and off more frequently from t...

Where is the Idle Switch?
Hi, I'm trying to find the source of my error codes in the ECU. One of them indicates incorrect voltage in the Idle Switch but I don't know where to find it. Chilton's even references it when testing the throttle position sensor, it tells you how to test the idle switch but doesn't tell you where it...

Cross-Drilled Rotors?
Hi, All four rotors on my 1991 4wd wagon warp about every 10K. I do live in the mountains but mainly use the gears to brake on downhill runs as much as possible. I torque them to 70 lb-ft. The rotors I buy are from CarQuest, not from the dealer so there may be some difference there. Still, it seems ...
