Not cooling, my local AC shop said it's not compressing, and it's been making a lot of noise for a while. I had to replace the condenser last year, and it hasn't worked right from then on.

Re: AC compressor interchange?
I was really hoping that another year or model would use the same one or a comparable one. Getting hard justifying the expense of a 18 year old car to the wife. Anyone know the part number?

Re: update timing belt
I have a kartboy pully, got it from boxer4racing.com but I actually live relatively near their shop, so I picked it up rather than wait for shipping. Only paid $99 for it too. It is significantly lighter than stock.

Re: N/A no go. just replaced HGs
Ok now it just cranks and cranks but no start. I tried the unplug maf trick and the unplug cam sensor trick, but still no spark. No spark on any cylinder. Could the distributor have been damaged when I removed it from the manifold? Also my tester lights up on the center terminal on the distributor, ...

Bump, need help, thinking its a grounding issue all around at this point. I the gauge sending unit pegs when connected to my tester wire, so I think something is grounded when it shouldn't be.

Fixed!!! N/A no go. just replaced HGs
Ok, so just replaced HG on my leggy, and now it alternates between a no spark condition which comes and goes, and running great for a few minutes and then shutting off. I noticed today while sitting in the drivers seat looking at the instrument panel that the temp was steady right in the middle, the...

I love mine, plus cheaper than an oe replacement. Sounds good too. Its soon to be accompanied by 2.25 in piping and borla headers.

Re: changed plugs and wires, but stutters and dies
You gotta go ngk on everything. Ive used every brand under the sun on everything from bmw to toyota, and ngk is the best for japanese vehicles. You WILL notice a difference. Make sure your plugs are gapped right too, very important but often overlooked step.

Re: changed plugs and wires, but stutters and dies
I always remove the windshield washer reservoir. They come right out. I can tell by feel on tightness, but usually tell people do them hand tight, then go about 1/4 to 1/3 turn. And i usually give the ends of the wires a light squeeze with needle nose pliers just to make sure they are snug. Just a v...

How clean does the block need to be?
Doing head gaskets on a NA ej22, sent my heads off to the machine shop, so I know those are good. I need to know how clean the block needs to be before I reinstall the new gaskets and heads. Everything feels smooth, but there is alot of discoloration. I don't want to go through all this trouble just...

Re: How to clean carbon buildup from heads/pistons @ home?
I have decided im not gonna worry about the pistons, but am still gonna try to get the combustion chamber clean(er). I soaked them in seafoam for about an hour, with little to no effect. It did clean up some of the thinner deposits, but over all no effect. I ment to grab a bottle of ATF out of my wi...

Borla Vs. OBX
Has anyone actually used both or have one and a buddy w/ the other for a comparison? I know Borla has the brand recognition, but i have heard mixed reviews. Also, OBX is cheaper by a bit, and would help towards my cat delete pipe and midpipe. Any input is appreciated. Hoping to purchass in the next ...

Re: How to clean carbon buildup from heads/pistons @ home?
So it was about to rain the other day after I pulled the heads, so I took the heads inside, and sprayed the still attached to car block down with WD40 to keep things from rusting from the humidity. Today, 2 days later, I go out to retreat and protect the block again and lo and behold the carbon from...

True or False, EJ18 timing covers work on NA ej22?
broke my timing covers when removing to get at my heads for my gasket replacement, so trying to find a set and need to know what my options are. Saw about 3 imprezas at the yard last time I was there and heard EJ18 timing covers are the same as NA EJ22's. Thanks for any advice. mainly need both inne...

Well it was definately the HG. Pulled the heads yesterday and just wow. could clearly see where it was blown on the drivers side head. Passenger side head didn't want to come off even after the bolts were removed, but the drivers side d@mn near fell off, lol. So now to wait for my new head bolts and...

Re: How to clean carbon buildup from heads/pistons @ home?
Do the pistons come above the deck slightly at TDC? if so, i could probably use a brillo attachment on my drill and some acetone without worrying about getting carbon stuck somewhere it shouldn't be. BTW, im working on an EJ22E

Re: How to clean carbon buildup from heads/pistons @ home?
what about a dremel tool with a copper brush wheel? and for the pistons the other type of scrubber, not the wheel type. The pistons are cast aluminum, right? so they should hold up to a good cleaning.

the green ones? or white? i really don't want to fudge up my valves. and the carbon is pretty extensive and I just don't think brake cleaner is gonna cut it. already gave it a preliminary cleaning using brake cleaner and a rag, made the rag black but didnt do much else. on a side note, should my val...

How to clean carbon buildup from heads/pistons @ home?
I searched on this but couldn't find anything helpful, so anyone know how to clean the carbon build up from the heads, valves, and piston tops at home? i know the machine shop that im taking my heads to could probably do them for a small additional charge, but if I can save a few $ im gonna. I figur...
