Re: Turbo and intercooler installed!
As i understand it, the 440 side feeds are only from ej20g / ej20k. Meaning they were never really released in a USDM car. But the 550's are much more common, being on usm ej255 and 257s. So for future part avalibility, the 550's with the td04 set at 16lbs would be the best choice. Guess i need to t...

Turbo and intercooler installed!
So here's some pics and story of my progress. I'm happy to have finally started building power after my swap. I spent a couple months skimming my paycheck and collecting parts for my big install. Nasioc was great and their members were fair and truthful on 4/4 transactions. One guy was a little late...

Re: Will these motor mounts work on my 1990 Legacy?
Here is a place you can get them for 40 bucks. Just dug this up from google, so it's just a refrence. http://www.rockymountainwesty.com/Subaru_Engine_Mounting_Brackets_Pair_p/41031fa090p.htm NASIOC would probably have someone who would sell them cheaper. As far as replacing them go, you can just use...

Re: Will these motor mounts work on my 1990 Legacy?
I have been through this, you need the mount brackets to go along with the newer square style mounts, the ones from the round mounts wont work. Err.. they will, but it's a nightmare of drilling and trimming metal. old style (fig 10 and 11) http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac261/bullgore/xmember2.p...

Re: rough idle
Sounds like a vaccum leak. Get a can of carb cleaner or starter fluid. Spray it around the engine compartment, aim at hoses and around the base of the intake manifold, avoid the exhaust obviously. What you are testing is to see if extra unmetered air is being pulled into the engine from a loose hose...

Re: cant accelerate when cold/ seems hesitant low rpm
sounds like o2 heater circuit. o2 sensors measure air/fuel via the exhaust, and they need to be a certain temp to work proper. So they have little electric heaters that burn out over time, if it is out then your car has to naturaly warm it with exhaust. I know all about it because i'm cheap and went...

Re: Intercooler mockup, and wide band question
Good point on the old bpv. I didnt think of that and would have used it for sure. But the forester one is too shiny to not use now lol. The hose is a masterpro 22063 same number for gates. Just a coolant bypass hose i found at work to suit the purpose. I really like how i can see it through the scoo...

Intercooler mockup, and wide band question
So i got my sti motor mounts installed. I should have gotten to brakets too but managed it with some "modification". Now i have acquired an 06 wrx intrecooler and an 04 forester bpv. Both are in just great shape and am just thrilled with the price, under 100 shipped for both together. I ha...

Re: Bad gas mileage. Suddenly
Look for the real reason for the knock sensor code. Most likely a broken wire. I have seen it more than once.
Also try to clean the surface where the sensor mounts on the block.
A knock sensor code will cost power and fuel mileage.
good luck!

I assume your CEL isnt on.
When were your plugs changed last? nice ngk v-powers?
Clean your maf. Check for vac leaks. Sea foam.
Basics are often overlooked.
As kimo said, check the timing belt. Was a new tensioner included in the top end rebuild?

Re: cant accelerate when cold/ seems hesitant low rpm
check your basics, and do some cleaning. Codes? http://legacycentral.org/library/literature/codes.htm Spark plugs, fuel filter, clean the mass air flow sensor (there's cleaner at auto parts stores), and run some seafoam through the tank. Most likely you have a vaccum leak. While at the auto parts st...

Re: P0100, P0101 - Replaced MAF, Still Won't Start
Ok, so its a certain no spark issue. Next steps i would take is bringing a compression tester and a basic continuity tester with me next trip. Comp tester just to clear up that timing belt slip, and all other compression issues, it's a solid yes or no and be done with it. The continuity tester is to...

Re: motor mount fitment
Thanks for the advice, after careful consideration i decided to go for the ancor mounts (sti ones of course). Yea they suck, but they are cheap and unbroken lol. It's hard to afford performance upgrades when repairs pop up like this. O well that's what i get for trying to make an sti out of a 200k o...

on lunch break so i dont have too much time to dig too deep. I have a broken motror mount in my outback. Clunk clunk at idle and motor is moving in excess when i rev it. So, i want to good group N ones and can get a deal on them from a buddy that works at a GM dealership. But he orders from a subi d...

Re: P0100, P0101 - Replaced MAF, Still Won't Start
Well i dont know if i would go too crazy on taking my working car apart. Simple sensors yea, but the tps and iac are probably eliminated with easier tests. Most of the mentioned things will throw a code. But not always, making it tough. So the iac (idle air control valve) simply opens when the throt...

Re: P0100, P0101 - Replaced MAF, Still Won't Start
Pretty sure both of these codes can be thrown from vaccum leaks. If the car was still start and run bad i would say it is the case. Still may be. So a few questions of how you are trying to start it? Are you giving any pedal when you try to start it? May be your IAC or TPS Something that makes me th...

Re: Getting to know my ej22t
No...you'll need '92-'94 NA SOHC EJ22 rails (probably '95-98 SOHC would work, too). So the us market 04-06 ej255/257 injectors fit these rails? or am i looking at the wrong 550's? Good to know i havent wasted my investment on the MBC. I got a good deal, 50 bucks for a hallman, and it's my current f...

yea L7s car is the idol build for me. The more i ponder my goals and the heads i have i am positive i want to keep them. so i guess, rob 550 tune and td05, keep my heads. When i swaped the engine i inspected the timing belt and headgaskets. Gaskets were a bit larger than the heads indicitive of a re...

I think i'm going with the rob tune. It's the cheapest option and i found the 20g ecu can be made to wotk with my 22t. The revtronix option looked good but it dosent seem like their website works anymore. Are they even still active? Thanks for the experienced "hell yea you can get decent hp out...

Getting to know my ej22t
So my 91 ej22t has been in my outback for around 5000 miles now. It's a good strong engine and i am working my through the basic mods. i have a hallman mbc set at 9lbs and a decent cold air setup going. I am buying my tmic this week and fixing my patchwork exhaust after that (smooth 2.5 in), a td04 ...

I dont know if it's true across the board, but the oem fuji heavy belts are gates. As far as i have seen. Easily picked up at most auto parts stores.
I personally use gates.

as far as the rack goes they are the same. I am sure on the years mentioned. I am currently harvesting parts from a 91 turbo that i can use on my 97 legacy. And the rack is common across alot of subarus.

Thanks! I felt the same way about the scoop. it's the xt model that should have been Yea there is alot of tlc to be done, the harness still needs loom and heat tape there.
