Most likely to be the throttle butterfly needing adjusting, it is quite common for the throttle butterfly to over open causing it to partially close, that is one of the first things we check when making performance adjustments to cars.

You will just have to uprate your pressure plate, as mentioned here the clutch types need the equivalent bell housing which is part of the gearbox housing also.

I would get an auto electritian to do a leak test to determine where and if there is a short in the wiring somewhere, because you shouldn't flog out alternators like that

The best value for money heads are the Subaru outback 1997-1998 model, they are a solid lifter large bucket head, the only mod you need to make to fit an EJ20 is port out the inlet port to match the EJ20 inlet. Some of the later impreza and TT heads are also good as they also us sodium filled valves...

Grinding the cams is a pain in the bum, because you then have to make up shims. We have a cam engineering shop down the road from my home, and what they do is build up the lobes increasing the duration and doesn't require any other mods. Also make sure you modify your fuel rail delivery other wise y...

From the symptoms mentioned, the problem matches a faulty crank angle sensor, no ecu error codes, the car runs then stops for no reason and wont start for a few minutes, the problem gets worse and worse until you can not start the car at all.

In my N/A EJ20, I have a 3 inch from the 2 into 1 collectors, long quite skinny 2 into 1 header pipes to make up for the lost torque, two 18 inch hot dog resonators and huge borla race muffler at the end.

Car runs fine, now has more torque and power low down and top end.

The problem could also be caused by the mixing of the oils of different viscosity and foaming qualities

The gears etc are actually exactly the same size, the turbo tranny gears are shot peened that is about the only difference apart from the clutch setup as previously mentioned

Bubbles is called foaming, it is quite common as the oil ages, due to water in the oil from condensation.

This foaming issue is more common if you have added tranmission additives to the oil, which is why people do not recomend doing this.

I would recomend removing the oil and replacing it.

We have converted plenty of Subarus to RWD only without any issues, in NZ the diffs are very strong and haven't killed any yet, the things that don't survive this mod are the half shafts, they bend or break.
