thats weird you cant find one, subaru has used about 3 different types of filters in the last 19 years! your car should take the long rectangle style, try to get a filter for like a 04' forester, should be the same!

check your axle nuts, i fought that same noise on a friends car, the right front axle nut was finger tight!

all subarus have it, but not anymore now that they went to hood struts.

05 up legacys u can just put the prop in the hood on a lower point to hold it up in a vertical position.

^^^how did u go about mounting the carrier bearing for the driveline since there is no holes or threaded inserts on the 2wd cars?

time for a new tranny! sounds like the band on for the second gear drum is burnt to a crisp, very common in these older 4eat's

when im referring to push or pull style clutch's im talking about what the throw out bearing is doing not the cable or slave cylinder, so if your car is a non turbo legacy is has a push style with a cable, and you do not need the spring that we are talking about.

u should pick up 2 new retainer clips for the T-bearing to hold it on the clutch fork, they tend to brake or go missing.

the spring you are refering to is not for your car, only pull style clutchs have them, its to help return the fork and stop it from rataling against the slave cylinder rod.

yes, all stock subaru radiators are aluminum cored with plastic end tanks, but lots of aftermarket companies make brass replacements.

all subaru knock sensors are in the exact same place so far, super easy to do, easiest 1hr to get at work when flat rate!

by the way they are a ARresearch T3, there are two different types of turbos they came with, the manual tranny ones are different then the autos, the A/R's are not the same.

it was the neutral switch, like you said its a ground impute to the ecm on the circuit for the manual cars.

took all of 10min after work with the fsm, i had sniped the plugs for the tranny so i can use the factory plugs for the reverse switch and neutral switch, so if it needs to come ...

no i have not. havent had time to figure it out in my fsm. u think this may be the problem?

Ive got the AT module removed, the wires at the plugs shorted to make it start, not shure what iac i have, the manual tranny ones are different if im not mistaken.

and yes i have cleared the memory with the select monitor 2.

the code comes on when ever im coasting in gear ether down a hill or ...

any one got some ideas as what to do? do i need a 5mt specific ecm? or is there another problem?

so im trying to figure out the electrical aspect of the swap on my 90' legacy.

ive done the wire mods to get the car to start, run and let me take the key out, that was the easy part.

but my problem is i get a on and off MIL when driving. its for the idle control, cant remember the code right now ...

sounds like u got a torque converter problem, my old AT used to go in and out of lockup on command down the freeway no problem. time for a 5mt swap or a tranny rebuild.

eh, not a big deal, i new there was somthing that wouldent work.

ill just go junkyard hunting for a lowmileage 2.2 motor, give a good look over with new rings, and bearings if need be.

after doing the 5mt swap on my legacy it doesnt like the higher revs from me beating on it :twisted:

ive got OB breaks already, tranny went in today with no problems. just need to get a new speedo cable.

to bad my fuel pump took a dump on me about 2hrs after i did the swap! im going to the junk yard in the morning to get a "new" one, just to get by for now untill i got some $ for a ...

front or rear? auto or manual?

they should work on the front, but in the rear your ss should have stub shafts coming out of the diff i do belive? look at the rear diff axles and see if there are roll pins holding the axle on the stub shaft.

if not shure you could go by your nearest subaru dealer ...

yea the stance is not that bad, its like 7/16" lower in the rear but i expected that since its a wagon.

yea im exited for this saturday, putting in the manual tranny! ive got a factory clutch kit with flywheel, cobb full adj. short throw shifter, cobb front shifter bushings, kartboy rear bushing ...

im thinkin of a stroker kit with some sort of super charger, i like to be different!

sittin low! its alittle bouncy over soft bumps at freeway speeds but not bad at all, takes corners better then my rx7! wheels and tires are in the works, just need to find a good deal on craigslist, the manual tranny swap is this weekend! just waitin on some goodies from kartboy, and good by slush ...

how many miles on the shell? motor?

yea its just a solenoid in the back of the tranny inside the rear housing, u can do them in the car, super easy, done it before.
