FS WA: 1997 Turbo Outback Legacy wagon

97 5 spd outback wagon that I turbo swapped. It is all there and has been my daily driver for more than a year. This has a salvage title due to being rearended. I did all the work myself including the motor build and rewire. The rear hatch fit is not perfect but it is usable and does not leak. The m...

That may just mean the fuel and timing maps were created for a 98sti not that the box is intended for that use. You should be able to load anyones fuel and timing maps from any car that is running an Autronic(not that they will work, or work well for your car) See if it will allow you to lock timing...

This seemed to make sense when I was rewiring my outback. I will have a look at the diagrams of this area when I get home . (if I remember, I suffer from CRS)

I believe I also have a diagram of the COP style early Liberty.

ECU

I will do it if you have not gotten any takers.

Do you have the diode that is needed added to your wiring? If you do not you will have no luck.

One of my buddys did this with his turbo swapped RS. He breaks rear axles nearly every time he drives it (Autocross).

It is funny to see a subaru do a RWD burnout though.

If you use a tow dolly and disconnect the drive line the only thing that will be getting any wear is the rear wheel bearings, an un loaded rear diff, and tires. The reason you want to disconnect the driveline is not the angle of the trans on the, it is the center viscus coupling. This will over heat...

Will this be towed with all 4 wheels on the ground? if so there should be no issues. If you are going to have the front end on a tow dolly you will want to disconnect the driveline. It is not that difficult and I have done it more than a few times. You just need to zip tie or wire it out of harms wa...

20 degrees of timing at full boost/ load is quite a bit of timing. I am not sure of the map values for this ECU but in turbo Mitsubishi stuff that would be not too shabby for a full pull. If it starts dropping down to in the area of 5 degrees you can really see the exhaust side of the turbo start gl...

I tried to build the converter that Vikash designed for this and was not able to make it work with this software. Did anyone else make one of these and have any sucess with them? I keep geting the "port closed" message. If not, I suppose I will try building the one from their site. Thanks ...

Find the keyless entry box under the dash if it has one. ( it will be needed for this) and depress the black button that hangs from it's wiring loom, while depressing the lock button on the fob. Your doors should now lock and or unlock.

Good luck

I finally got all the wiring chased out and have been driving it to work.

Thats what I figured out cause when I went to subaru last friday they could not tell what pistons were in my car even when I gave them my vin? So after looking at wiseco some more I have found that .20 for us is right around 3.830" bore so I look around and found that we have the same size pis...

josh, can you explain how squish and quench area effect detonation? My take is as follows, this is the information I have based my most recent motor build on: The quench area (built into the pistons and head), or the flat areas at either the exhaust or intake sides of the piston, just in front of t...

Again to the squish height, I think the stock 2.2t gasket is to thick. Nearly if not completely negating the quench areas effect. Eric from frantic four has had great results running the thin gasket, DOHC heads, on his. It ripped and seamed really resistant to detonation, even towing his motorcycle ...

The fact remains that with stock EM, I think it would be better to run lower static compression and then compensate with more boost. And I dont believe that the "flow" of the head has much of an effect on the dynamic compression. But rather cam timing. Just some thoughts. Also, (Random Co...

It all depends on your final compression ratio. You can boost stock internals alot more if your static comp ratio is low. Maybe someone knows the comp ratio of your proposed setup. With low compression, stock internals can handle 15-20 all day long. Here is a handy calculator that gives you a bette...

rings

I have always used stock style rings (hand file gapped) in all my builds. I do not think the gapless style really adds that much value. All of the surface area in contact with both the pistons ring groove and the cylinder wall is bound to cause far more pressure loss than a few staggered gaps in the...

Woah! There's a lot here... In my explorations of the Hitachi ECU it seemed that the ECU didn't actually have a fuel map per se but rather just a relatively small number of parameters defining fueling computations. The ignition timing maps were pretty sophisticate though. So if you do this right, y...

other options

It appears the chip in the center of the "blue daughter board attachment?" would be removeable and replaceable with a socket. By the look of Nico's ECU this is what they did. The only thing that appears different on Nico's is the small for pin connecter just above and to the right of the c...

Misfire

When were the plugs replaced last? have they ever been? Proper gap? Check the resistance of the spark plug wires.

Plugs and wires cure a lot of these misfire codes.
